Greetings fellow Steemians!
In this post I thought I would share another recent and quick master copy I finished of Bouguereau’s “After the Bath”.
Come to think of it, It has been a while since I’ve done some master copies. They’re pretty fun as they can teach you so much.
In fact, many great painters well after their success, even til death had continued the practice of creating master copies.
I found this tiny version of this Bouguereau painting to be especially enjoyable as it challenged me to work with a different palette than I am normally accustomed to.
With this little project I found myself once again for example really appreciating the use of Viridian again.
As with most oil painters knowing, Viridian is tricky to use as its tinting strength is pretty strong, so a little goes a long way.
But when used strategically, it can produce some wonderfully clean greens and some beautiful neutrals when used in relation to burnt sienna.
To be perfectly honest, I think I gained quite a bit from working on this painting! :)
