Painting an abandoned Japanese tank

in #art6 years ago

A quick walk through process of painting an abandoned Japanese (type 97 shinhoto chi ha) tank in a field.

Another painting I started off with 3 tones, black, white and grey.

I've tried to restrict the colour palette in some areas with majority of the piece being dull brown, purple, green and very little saturated blue and orange where the skeleton is looking.

The Type 97 medium tank Chi-Ha was the most widely produced Japanese medium tank of World War II, with about 25 mm thick armor on its turret sides and 30 mm on its gun shield, considered average protection in the 1930s. Some 3,000 units were produced by Mitsubishi.

Thanks for looking!

Very interesting work, Jeremy! Well done!

Thanks mate

I very like your drawing style! Good job!

I am glad that you added the skellies into the picture. They really add a lot of characters and feels into the scene.

I also love that the tank is positioned in a beautiful field of flower, which gives it a nice contrast between life and death :).

I like the contrast between the tank and flowers. For me, it symbolize 'war and peace'. Something what just doesn't go together in the real life but it is perfect on your painting. Thank you for sharing Jeremy!

Thank you! :)

Very nice, skulls and flowers and an abandoned tank.... Atmospheric, for sure ! Love the restrained colour palette too :)

Thank you for the kind words @veryspider!
