Portrait of Loki. My detailed creative process

Hello, Steemit!!
Today I want to share with you my portrait of Loki from the universe of Marvel. Loki - Prince of Asgard, son of Odin, the full-fledged king of Jotunheim and God of mischief.
Despite the fact that Loki tries to capture Asgard, the Earth, his only true goal is the approval of his adoptive father Odin and half-brother Thor. Wishing to receive their recognition, he constantly resorts to deceit, cunning and betrayal of all those who somehow trusted him.
I drew with graphic tablet in the "CLIP STUDIO PAINT" editor.








First I made a background for the portrait. I chose a bluish-turquoise color, darkening it around the edges.





Selecting on the toolbar "oil painting" with translucent thin strokes drew the contours of the portrait.





I chose a broad brush and a pale pink color, painted the face on its main shaping lines. With gray color I drew transparent shadows, mainly from the right side of the face.





Started to detail.
By thin black lines I emphasized the contours of the eyes, eyebrows and lips. I imposed more accurate shadows on the nose, ear, lips. I tried to shade all sharp transitions between strokes with a special tool.





Then I painted the eyes in detail. I painted shadows with dark maroon, gray and black colors, drew the eyes with blue. I emphasized the shape of the nose and lips with thin lines.



Then I painted the hair. First I imposed translucent strokes on the direction of hair growth with a broad brush, and then made thinner and denser strokes.





Then I painted hero’s clothes. I used green and black colors, showing the metal parts in beige, yellow and white colors. I put black color on deep shadows of the folds. With thin lines emphasized contours and small details.





Finally, I strengthened the contrast of the picture, made the shadow darker, emphasized the details, made accents on the face and clothes in the form of white highlights. Made the background darker. The drawing is ready.
