Victoria Institution, Kuala Lumpur est. 1893.

The exposure of arts throughout my childhood had made me a ‘multi-enthusiast’ as I have passion in a lot of different branch of arts. I was always interested with all kind of arts since I was in school. Been selected into a premier an old heritage Colonial British building, the Victoria Institution dated 1923 during my high school was my first encounter to experience a place where I was really emotionally attached. I was not sure why during that time but I just know that there significant elements of the building that are very precious.

The original building from the 1893 was involved in a big fire in Kuala Lumpur in the 1920s and it was rebuild and completed in the 1923 with bricks and concrete.

Oh well, every school have their own ghost story right? But i believe not many school can top this one in term of the numbers of different ghost stories existed here. Of course, the building is more than a 100 years old, it existed even before our Malaysian independence in 1957. The building survived so many important events from the British colonial years towards Japanese invasion, the buildings have seen wars and bloods spilled too many times. Now The school is listed top 8 most haunted school in Malaysia

I was there from 2003-2007, 5 years of high school. Ive heard so many stories from the legends as well as experiences by my fellow friends, but honestly i have never had it myself. And im really thankful for that. I do believe there are those 'things' there for sure no doubt but for me, i believe only those who have the third eyes, can see them.

Heres some of the famous stories;

  • Japanese Army : They can still hear the Japanese army marching and running around the school after sunset. The sound of Japanese generals give commands in Japanese language and have sighted the headless armies walking around the school.

  • The biology lab: We have the oldest biology lab in Malaysia when it was first built in 1923. One of the most famous story about it was about the specimens in the lab cupboard is a foetus of a human being, preserved in some chemical. It was said, if you're alone in the walkway of the lab, you can see the mother of the foetus finding for her children.

  • The Clocktower: The clocktower have one opening that can be seen from the ground. It was told that after sunset, if you stare at it long enough, you can see a lady in red combing her long hair.

  • The Form 4 Toilet: Theres this one toilet building that had been closed since forever. I can remember clearly it was just opened for few weeks in 2004 when i was in form 2, and then it was closed again for some reason. Ive heard that some students was possessed because of using it at odd hours after school. One of the reson being said was someone had actually committed suicide hanging himself on a tree behind the toilet in the 1990s. It was told that the soul of the dead was still roaming around the school.

  • Mirrors: Do you know that theres not a single mirror in any of the toilet of the school? It was too risky to have one. It have been too many cases that people saw 'things' especially by the students who stayed in the hostel inside the school. So the school decided to bring down all the mirrors in the toilets.

  • The underground tunnel: There was a long tunnel being told built by the Japanese army leading to somewhere for their tactical war strategy.It was said to be more than few kilometers. It was located underneath the main building, in the current band room at the basement. There were attempts to investigate where it leads to but it was told it was never a success as people who went it will either lose their minds or collapse everytime theyre trying to. It was too many cases students tried to get in there so finally the school sealed it with concrete wall until this very day. I heard people said that it might have something related to this; https://www.thestar.com.my/metro/community/2015/01/19/part-of-bukit-nanas-secret-tunnel-made-public/ .

Oh well these are just some that i can recall im sure theres more to tell for all those victorians out there please help me fill it in lol.

Oh and heres a video of the drawing i did above;

Enjoy! ;)
