RECYCLING AND PAPER-ART: "ETHNIC WOVEN BUCKET"

in #art6 years ago (edited)

I love an ethnic design because it symbolizes nature, admittedly fascinating and attractive if applied to matt, fabric, and jewelry.

Ethnic designs resemble lines and forms of an object in favor of our natural environments from the ideas of our different ethnic groups that are applied commonly to the woven materials.

Weaving is an art some our Filipino hill tribes do with ability. Womenfolk in Mt.Province, T'bolis in Cotabato, and Yakan in Basilan to this class of art that admittedly fascinate tourists. In Panay, they weave patadyong and pina cloth.

And then, recycling is an artwork helpful to our planet that all of us must take a stand. Let's encourage everyone to make it a habit to prevent the garbages ruining our natural resources and not to expect the coming natural disasters in the future.

In participation to this, today, I recycled the nonbiodegradable material I got from a fast food chain. My cousin supposed to throw it away, but I told him to just wash it and give to me so we will reuse it at home. What did I do? See below.

Materials:
Origami papers 9x12 inches
stickglue
glue gun
pencil
pentel pen
glue
art paper 8.5x11 inches
ruler
eraser
colored pencil
scotch tape
scissor
coin
trimmer

Step I. Weaving

a) Get a ruler and measure "first -two papers" that are red and yellow to 1 inch and form a straight line horizontally to the red paper and vertically to the yellow paper. Follow each line and cut finely.

b) Position cut red paper vertically. Their upper sides should be placed evenly in a straight line.

c) Tape the lined trimmed papers.

d) Get the yellow trimmed paper to put beneath and at the surface of the vertical trimmed red paper. Continue doing the process 'till you form like a matt. Don't forget to preserve 1- 2 inches tips at the upper side, at the bottom, to the left, and to the right.

e) Fold the second layer of the paper to trim the excessive papers.

f) Reverse the paper and trim the residues carefully by using the trimmer. Then, do it to the other sides.

g) Glue each bottom layer.

h) Yay, it's almost done! Very easy right? Continue to trim 'till you finish.

Step II. Plan your Own Ethnic Design

In this idea, I picked the sun and the stars. The sun signifies a paradise on earth as we are overflowing with our natural resources. The stars resemble its illumination in the evening to the east, north, south, and west, overlooking the gifted places of the entire universe. I colored green to the stars as a naturist myself, typifies a message to always take care of our nature by recycling as the best contribution. So, let's begin the process.

The Sun Pattern

a) Draw circle to the yellow squares or red squares through a coin to form a good circle. I used 25 cents Philippine money. Use pencil first. It's your choice whether you put the sun to the red color or yellow.

b) General-First line: form a vertical line in the middle of the circle. If it's your choice to locate the sun to the red squares, it's up to you. Do it all together starting from the upper part to the lower part by using a ruler to create lines in each square evenly. Continue doing by forming the ruler according to the lined given in the picture.

c) General-Second line: form a diagonal line from upper-left corner to the lower-right corner of the square. Start from the lower-left side generally, form a diagonal line in each red square pointing each corner. Place the ruler diagonally from the first red square to the last red square and begin to make a line. It is important to draw a line evenly. Continue the process 'till you reach the last square on the upper-right side.

d) General-Third line: Form a diagonal line from lower-right side to the left. Place the ruler diagonally from the upper-right corner of the squares and begin making the line to form an even line. Continue the process 'till you reach the upper-left last square.

e) General-Fourth line: horizontal line. Line each square you chose. Place the ruler horizontally and make line evenly. Begin from the top until to the lowest part.

f) Now, draw a triangle according to the outside lines of the circles.

g) Get a pentel pen to cover the pencil marks and follow the fine lines made by pencils. Continue the process. Erase all the pencil traces.

h) Color the drawings according to your preference coloring material. In this project, I used a colored pencil.

Star Pattern

a) If you put the yellow color where the star is placed, form two horizontal lines inside of each yellow squares. To do it, measure the distance of the first line from the upper side of the square by a ruler, the same to the second line from the lower side of the square to form an even distance.

b) Form two vertical lines inside each yellow square. To do the first line, measure the distance of the left first line from the left side and the second right line from the right side by a ruler.

c) When you draw the lines, do not just line individually but do it generally by placing the ruler in the row when lining horizontal line and in the column when drawing a vertical line to draw it evenly.

d) Now, we see five squares that look cross. To make the same sizes of squares, measure the distance to the tip from the center square by the ruler.

e) Cover the pencil traces by Pentel pen carefully.

f) Erase the pencil traces.

g) Color the stars according to your preference of coloring material. I chose a colored pencil.

Yay, it's done!

P.S: Erase an excessive and uneven traces of colored pencil to look tidy.

Step III. Covering the Bucket

a) I took the fast-food chain bucket to cover it by the woven ethnic covering.

b) I began from the upper part of the bucket and used the glue gun to paste it finely 'till it's done.

c) I folded the covering to the bottom of the bucket and used the glue gun to paste finely.

d) Then, I trimmed the residue papers using the trimmer.

e) Lastly, I covered black art paper of bucket's interior. ###
