Hey hey hey! Im here again to continue fighting for the consistency challenge, well ya i cant just give up and im way to go to the 'real consistency'.

...

I've done a lot of line art, doodles, portrait, sketches, watercolor, etc. So now this thing is somewhat new to me, like really outside of my comfort zone and has more of an architectural approach.

"Ball of fire" - Form exercise, ligarayk, 2018

This was one of my design plates during the midterm period which consisted of 2 different figures (cube and rectangular prism).

The materials were :

  • Bristol boards (12 cubes, 12 rec prisms)
  • Cutters
  • Glue/adhesive
  • 8 x 8" w/ 2" thickness base
  • Spray paint

So we were tasked to make 12 cubes with 3x3cm dimension, and 12 rectangular prisms with 1x11 dimension. And with those figures, we needed to creatively think of a concept/form that would suit all of the 24 figures.

At first, it was really hard to think of a form that has limited materials, forms and shapes.

So I seeked for inspirations from my environment.

Luckily, it so happened that I saw an image of a meteor falling from the sky, passing through the thick clouds.

I dont know where i saw the pic but it looked like this one lol It really mesmerized me so i used it as an inspiration for my design lol.

So here's my sketch of my proposed design with drawings in different views.

Concept: A ball of fire or a meteor strikibg through from the space through clouds, leaving traces of smoke and debris.

So the big cube serves as the ball of fire, the rect prims for the smoke, traces of fire and the small cubes are the debris left behind.

Instead of making the ball of fire striking below, i made it to the other way.

...

So I made the cubes first by tracing and cutting some bristol board with the said dimensions.

...

Then i did the same thing as wt the cubes in making the rectangular prisms, cut and measure.

After cutting the exact measurements, I then pasted and formed the cubes using a shoe glue.

And i did paste and form the rectangular prisms as well.

Then I started attaching the rectangular prisms just like as what I have drawn. I spray painted the figures afterwards.

I used a silver paint since my base is black, so it would really emphasize the form.

After the paint dried, I then attached the cubes forming another big cube and put the remaining figures on the side.

Then i attached the whole form to the base using a glue stick.

Wow!!!! This looks like the combination of papers folded together to create this forms.

Thanks man! Yes it is really the combination of the two figures.

Hey, @ligarayk.

This is pretty amazing, coming up with the idea to create a meteor falling through the clouds using rectangular boxes. I know for certain I would have not had the imagination to come up with that.

It's just surprising how things like this can work out. You just happen to see an image of a meteor, and you go from having no idea of what you're going to do with all of this to a very amazing idea.

I hope you earn (have earned) a good grade for it. Also, the technical drawings are awesome in and of themselves.

Congratulations. On the work, and the curie.

Thank you very much mate! It just so happened, everything were unexpected lol . Have a nice day ahead! :)

Wow, that is really beautiful, I thought first that you have made them of metal, but looking through the post obviously you used cardboard, very thorough preparation and detailed sketch, like your idea that has driven that little sculpture. The metallic appearance made it to look great!

@stef1, A lot of people thought of that too lol thats because of the silver spray paint, well thank you for the appreciation mate!

Aweee thanks c-squared team!

It's interesting that you've been inspired by a meteorite, it's the transcendental thing about art, everything has to do with everything, I like your work, it's not common, it makes a difference, because it's also architecture, something I always appreciate when I walk through the city. This in a museum, it shines!

Congratulations!

Yes it really is! You can find art even in the simplest form. Thank you man!

You made such a great decoration, flowarsss. Fantastic, both the effort that you put and also the final result. And your process documentation is very pretty also, I enjoyed looking at it.

Congrats on the curie vote ;). You deserve it.

Aweee thank you for taking the risk bummer! Haha
