Still life drawing in Pen and ink

I was really busy doing plates and other school stuff for the past days that's why creating a post wasn't included on my to do list.

But since i love you guys! Ha ha ha im gonna share my plate for "Life drawing in pen and ink". Wee good now? Here it is...

My Reference

This superbly crafted sculpture symbolizes a lot of things. Aside from is believed as a mother goddess, It is also believed to be a fertility figure.

The original sculpture of Venus was made of oolitic limestone tinted with red ochre pigment—is dated to circa 28,000–25,000 BCE. At 4/8inches (11.1 cm) high.

So now for the process.

The materials I used here was a 2b pencil and a 0.1 techpen. Also, I applied a single-diagonal hatching technique in rendering.

Firstly, i created an outline and finalized the form then.

After sketching, I started adding a first layer of ink on the sketch. Since I wanted it to be neat, I just used a one-direction hatch in rendering.

Then I added another layer of hatch to create values. I also determined the parts which are highlighted and parts that has dark tones.

I continued rendering it up to the bottom part of the sketch.

Having patience and discipline of the hands is the very important factor in rendering since ink can't be erased if mistaken.

I finalized the structure then started sketching for the base.

And same as with the structure, i used a diagonal hatching to the base. The actual base is a glossy wood so I included some blurred reflection of the sculpture.

Lastly, I added diagonal hatches for the background. I drew the first layers (light) then added another layer that has thicker lines and heavier tones.
