Substance Designer Practice
I've spent a few hours today re-familiarizing myself with Substance Designer. Substance Designer is a procedural texture generation software. Basically what that means is that you create textures by crafting a node network where each node has some (typically simple) function, but by combining these nodes you can create all sorts of different results.
This is the node graph for this wood texture.
One of the really powerful things about Substance Designer is everything you create in there is automatically tileable and it creates all the texture maps you need for a physically based material workflow. Also, looking at that graph, it might not seem like it, but it's actually really fun.
Here's a really simple bathroom tile, I created as well.
All in all it was a pretty chill day. I got new internets today as well, we switched from cable to fiber and got a 5x boost in speed for less money. The jump from 250Mb/s to 1Gb/s is honestly not that noticeable because with 250 everything was pretty much already instantaneous, but I'll take it.

I really wanted to get both designer and painter but at the time they didn’t have Linux versions. Also 3dC was cheaper 😅 they look like fantastic products though, love those old school bathroom tiles 😆

I'm really just scratching the surface of Designer, I've been looking at some videos of things people have made and the potential is insane.
Your bathroom tile looks like "old school" mosaic tile from the fifties. Very authentic.
