My Latest Digital Painting - Natasha Akasha

in #art6 years ago

Hi Steemtribe,

today I'm going to share my most recent digital painting, and by request of a very special new artist friend of mine, you can find her under @malloryblythe, I'm going to dig a bit deeper into the creation process.

How does my creative process start?

Actually there's not only one way for me to begin a new piece of art. It is similar I guess to a composer or a writer. What comes first when writing a song, the melody or the lyrics? I bet there are only very few composers adhering to the same method all of the time. Sometimes I have a topic which keeps me thinking and at a certain point comes the urge to create the artwork around that subject matter. Other times I see a color theme I really like and I feel the itch to create a painting with a focus on those colors. And then there's the least likely scenario in which I just feel like doodling and have no clue where it's gonna go. I'm a trained typographer and graphic designer and my trade requires a solid portion of conceptual thinking before a pencil is even lifted, and that is probably the main reason that I more often than not have ideas floating in my system that bug me to bring them to realization.

It used to be challenging to me to find a healthy balance between creating entertaining eye candy and fulfilling the artist’s obligation of sending out meaningful messages, by rubbing into the audience faces that humanity is doomed if we don’t choose compassion over profit. Now that mainstream is finally waking up a little I find it more important to take the next step and offer guidance to healing ourselves and the planet. Learning about the true nature of the universe and our connection with each other and all life leads to the conclusion that going back to ‘childish’ dreaming is a vital part of the essential shift. I want to motivate people to dream, to stimulate their senses and childhood memories so that they find fulfillment again in simple pleasures, to connect with nature and their creative power, which is rooted inside all of us. We can unlock those powers when we still ourselves and get rid of any kind of judgement – about other people, about situations, and most of all about our perceived limitations.

Natasha Akasha Face Detail

Raising the vibes thru art

That's my simple motto. I know, the concept is not new, and for those who've been following the whole awakening-of-the-planet movement the idea of raising the vibes might be even chewed out, but I'm also trying to reach the cross over crowd. There is no sense in preaching to the choir, I'd like to tickle the pickles of main stream people, the ones who just now have heard of Eckhart Tolle, or maybe have started taking yoga classes, but still eat at McDonalds.

Is raising the vibes actually possible or is it just some new age wishful thinking? I strongly believe raising the vibrations through visual art can be achieved the same way it can be achieved through music. After all, light and sound are both electromagnetic waves, just at different wavelengths. In cymatics, which is the science of visualizing audio frequencies, soundwaves create amazing geometric patterns. Japanese photographer Masaru Emoto took pictures of water crystals after exposing them to different kinds of emotions. The crystals that were exposed to harmonious and loving emotions produces beautiful symmetrical shapes, whereas crystals that were subject to hate and aggression formed very chaotic and unharmonic shapes. Vice versa, exposing people to visuals that create positive emotion within them, should produce an equally positive vibrational frequency which will influence their surroundings.

Natasha Akasha Complete

What inspired Natasha Akasha?

Akasha in Hindu philosophy means ether. Besides the traditional four elements, Water, Air, Fire and Earth they added Ether as the fifth element to make all the other elements work. Without Akasha that breathes life into everything, nothing goes. Me adding Natasha to the name is of course just a silly play of words. To me only few things are more annoying than an artist who takes him or herself too seriously, no matter how important the message. Natasha Akasha is the one who mastered the use of Ether and therefore the other elements as well. She manifests a water and a fire dragon, opposite forces that when working in harmony create a balancing yin-yang effect.

The animation below is just a little fun project I threw together just for giggles. Motion graphics and special effects is something I've been meaning to get into for a while. This tear the start will be made...

DUDE. This is awesome. Not only is the painting amazing, but the animation just takes it to another level. I could stare at that thing for hours and still notice more and more detail. Even the background is mesmerizing.

I'm so honored that you think highly enough of me that you took my advice hahaha. I loved reading about this and hearing your motivation for making art, opening minds, or well, to use your motto, "raise vibes." And it's rad that you don't take yourself too seriously despite the ridiculous amount of talent you clearly have.

Couldn't have done it without you. Girl , you have a way with words that can make someone feel like a million bucks, thank you for those uplifting words and your advice, which obviously worked. Of course I think highly of you and respect the sh** out of your opinion! :-P

@elgeko showed this to us in https://steemspeak.com

Hi @ackza , nice to meet you. Thanks for the resteem and posting some contacts, it's very much appreciated. The steemspeak link though is giving me a warning to stay away from it because it's very likely to be a phishing site. Not sure if that's justified but I though I let you know.

I can only say that you made some amazing artwork here.. the animation is super, but the drawing at self too! love it.. nice style you got here..

Thank you for your kindness and for taking the time to check out the post :-)

This is so amazing!! The artwork is great, and I'm so glad you included your process with this too. The animation is fun, isn't it? :) Nice job!

Thank you very much Lynn! I appreciate your vote and encouraging comment, will check out your page.

You are most welcome. And no need unless you want to :)

I want to and I did, not in depth yet, and one of your recent posts caught my eye. It was about @c-squared who also commented my artwork. I'd like to tap into the Steemit art scene and these guys seem to be movers and shakers.

This would certainly be a goode place to start. In my post was a link to join their discord group, and I'm assuming one of the links on @c-squared's comment does the same. In there, you will find a channel specific to art curation. Well worth a look!

Hey @c-squared, nice to meet you, To be honest I have to do some research to figure out what this all means, but I like the results already. So, thank you for whatever it is what you did, I'll definitely check your blog.

I never was much for putting in some elaborate meaning myself. I wonder how many artists and writers actually have some crazy complex meaning behind their art and how often it's just people trying to read too much into the beautiful creation of another mind.

Good point, I guess it's safe to say that there's z mixed variety bag of characters on both side of the fence. You can certainly find wannabe art critics who love to hear themselves talk and interpret all kind of nonsense into a piece of art, just to sound interesting. Then there are wannabe artists trying to distract from their lack of talent with an over ambitious narrative.
But for the most part I believe that creating art is meaningful just alone through the fact that the people creating it put their hearts and souls into it. This is what art represents, and I'm not only referring to art art. If someone is a plumber and puts a lot of attention and love towards detail, giving it his best, he creates a work of art. I think it is intrinsic to human nature to create something that's meaningful, but greed has corrupted our values causing us to be sloppy.
Shit, that answer was a lot longer than I intended it to be, but there you go, a sloppy answer would not be art.

Well, I dunno about plumbing necessarily being art. We put bits of ourselves in everything we create but I don't know that it's necessarily art just because we created it. I suppose it depends on what your definition of art is. Maybe designing the plumbing for a city might be art. I think what makes it art is putting in a unique expression of your self. When you weld a pipe, every small movement to make the weld might be unique to you, but it's only art when the combined expression is something more. There are certainly plenty of art sculptures made from welding pipes together.

You're absolutely right. With the energy and intention we put into our work we make it either art or not. Art is more of an attitude in my opinion. I came to that conclusion when I talked to a guy from Senegal years ago. He said in his country there was not even a word for art. I was pretty perplexed by that but then it started to make total sense. It's all about how much of our uniqueness we are willing to to pour into what we do. And that goes for what we perceive as 'real art' as well. If a so called artist just spits some paint on a canvas, without any emotion or deeper meaning most people will pick up on that. The universe is made solely of energy and every piece of matter that manifests carries the energetic footprint of the soul that created that matter. So the energy you put into something is responsible for the outcome, nothing else.

I am amazed to see your photos. They are really outstanding. I fall in love to see your photos. You may virtually locate wannabe artwork critics who like to pay attention themselves speak and interpret all type of nonsense into a chunk of artwork, simply to sound thrilling. then there are wannabe artists trying to distract from their lack of expertise with an over formidable narrative.
However for the maximum part i trust that developing art is meaningful just alone thru the fact that the people growing it placed their hearts and souls into it. that is what art represents, and i am now not simplest referring to artwork art. If a person is a plumber and puts lots of attention and love towards detail, giving it his first-rate, he creates a work of artwork. i think it is intrinsic to human nature to create some thing that is significant, but greed has corrupted our values inflicting us to be sloppy.

Thank you much and I just noted the resteem, my sincere gratitude for that. I still have to figure out a lot of stuff here but it seems there is no indication for the writer of a post to see if and how many times it has been resteemed.

Thanks for your reply. I think your post is definitely worth resteeming. It's excellent in my (not very humble)opinion :)
I'm only here a few weeks so I haven't figured how to see your resteems yet. That is if there in fact is a way.
Let me know if you find out.
Come to think of it not sure how you do that either lol
