Graffiti Wall in Polignano a Mare, Italy

in #art6 years ago

I just came across these photos of a wall in a deserted part of town that we took while visiting Polignano a Mare in Italy a few years back. I wrote a post about the trip, but didn't include these images as I only came across them today.

This graffiti looks like it's been there for a very long time. I tried to find any indication as to when it was painted but couldn't find any signatures or dates. This is partially because a lot of it is faded and cracking off.

Please accept my apologies for appearing in just about every shot. We never actually intended to post these images anywhere. I just thought the graffiti was cool looking and had Amanda take some shots with me standing in front of it. Now I wish that I had taken more detailed shots without my fat head in the way!

This one was actually labeled 2014 with a signature, so it was quite new at the time of our visit. Once again sorry for blocking the artwork.

These last two are my favorites. I was a huge fan of the muppets growing up. Especially the Muppet Movie. I must have worn out that poor VCR tape. In fact, I still run around singing 'Moving Right Along' by Fozzie and Kermit.

I have to say, we only spent one week in Polignano but I have a lot of memories of that place. No one spoke a word of English, but after a few days everyone recognized us and were super nice. It is such a quiet little town with not a lot to do really, but the scenery really makes up for it. Who knows, maybe we'll go back again some day!

Haha.. at first I was like, who is Holger? Then I realized it is the same as Waldo here in the US.

ohh right! it's Waldo! I just used the danish name of our books lol

Hi @nuthman , Me too like Muppets. No need to apologize. You are looking handsome. Infact the art is looking more beautiful in your presence. isn't it? It is my friend. have a good day.

Thanks! I do not believe that I am really that handsome, but thanks. Lol!

Some graffitis are done to make a political statement, others are just street art @nuthman that is pleasing to the eyes.

I like the second picture (the trumpet with shades on), i like abstract things like that. however i am not a fan of graffiti because after a while these beautiful art work become wahsed up and it's just a mess. But i also know and understand the important role graffiti has played in history.

There is this long wall where I used to live in Florida that is covered in graffiti. It is about 1 mile long. The local govt allows people to paint on it, so it is constantly updating.

It is kind of cool because it keeps people from tagging up all over town. It sucks that the art gets overwritten, but interesting to see it constantly evolve.

I think it's better that well, the wall will also look new and beautiful. Also, those who would want to put their stuff will try to do better than the previous artist, that way you have some healthy competition.

@nuthman awesome graffities man! The artist has real skill with a funky touch. The graffity with the man singing in front of a microphone is my fav. Why u r telling sorry for being there in the photos... U look totally fine and I like your pose, what an attitude Boss! So, You have traveled to Italy too.... Wow! U really enjoy travel a lot mate and thus I also get a chance to see those beautiful cities, their cultures and lifestyles through your vision. I also like to travel so much but sadly i haven't travel outside of my country yet. Maybe my first tour will be in Italy as You have said in this post that they are very welcoming to you... 😎😊😅

I bet India has a lot to see as well, though. I would love to see your country. One of these days I will go. I would like to go to a Buddhist monastery and meditate for a few days. See if I can hit that Stream Entry. hehe!

I can't remember if you saw it or not, but if not check out the Polignano post I did a while back. I took loads of photos while there! It has the most beautiful and amazing coastline.

No matter that when it's painted. I guess it's enough old but still looks new. Will visit polignano

I think you would like it!

Yeah man,, i like it. Thanks sir
