More Great Art Discovered in Old Books
Gustav Klimt, 1884. Klimt was 22 years old when he did this!
Something to counter the ugliness: "The Wicked Queen" by the great Wanda Gàg. From a 1930s Snow White telling.
Wanda wrote and illustrated the oldest continuously printed picture book in the US: "Millions of Cats".
"Snow White" by Wanda Gàg, 1930s.
"Six Swans" by Walter Crane, 1880s. From Grimm's Household Stories.
Artist and subject unknown, India mid19th century. I found it in a deteriorating partial French text.
The Discovery of Drawing by Suvee, 1791
In "Natural History", Pliny the Elder relates that Dibutades, daughter of a potter, drew her beloved before he left on a long journey.
Very neat. I really like the 6 swans one and the Discovery of Dawn. The latter is so realistic. Very impressive

You dont see images and artwork in a lot of novels written today, unless it's a graphic novel. When I do come across one I'm always pretty excited though. "Oooo look, pictures!" Lol. These one are quite nice
