Between noon and night

Chavdar Petrov and Aneta Drumgushanu are authors who go through the vicissitudes of time without making compromises in the name of tastes, fashions or ideologies. They are different - as a world view, as a kindred, as an expression. What brings them together is the way to the unhealthy. The collation of their exhibitions allows us to trace two points of view to it.

Before going to the typology of difference, I point out several similarities.
Both Chavdar Petrov and Aneta Durguşanu live and work in Vidin. Attracted by the peculiar fascination of the city, they are associated with it not as subjects, but as emotions and personal experiences. They both leave the personal experience and transform it into a sign. They both clear the image from the figure to the abstraction, but the differences start here.

Chavdar Petrov passes through the line, the contrast, the extreme expression and the lonely spontaneity of the gesture, and Aneta Duguschanu prefers the rich, mercilessly balanced color, the sharing and the symbolically compacted contemplation.

In Lunar Night in Gallery, Chavdar Petrov presents an unusual view of the starry sky. For him, it is a specific "personal" territory that embodies the dream, the nostalgia, the nostalgic expectation. His paintings are arithmic, expressive, even mysterious. They outline the unexpected "sharp" turns of emotion. Chavdar Petrov ecstatically, somehow suddenly, demonstrated freedom of speech. He loves the night - the kingdom of the moon, when dreams are drawn. Chavdar Petrov places borders - on the path of the road. From the "white" start at the dawn of life to the light in his son-in-law, he portrays a "labyrinth" of moments. Pure, raw color and unmatched lightness, and the accent invisibly placed on loneliness.

Aneta Durguşanu combines 18 paintings from different chronological cuts in the "furrows" exhibition. Directly and translucently, it represents the plating of the decades. Furrows are a sign of labor, accumulation and layering. Growing up in Romania, the artist overlays intercultural layers with a powerful, monolithic and calm radiance. The meaning of the composition is decisive for its works. With a soft, rich and balanced color, Aneta Drumushanu interprets household activities that are brought to the mark. It depicts the labor, focusing on the abstraction without total destruction of the form. With subtlety emphasizes empathy, the act of sharing and support. Aneta Durguşanu relies on a gradual accumulation. Its canvases are connected with something earthly and tangible. They are the hallmarks of actions, states, objects. Even paintings such as Harmony, Unges, and 2018, in which the figure disappears completely, leave a monumental sensation. For Aneta Drumgushanu the light brings dynamics and development. It translates that fragment of the day, when the person is an active participant, and the life is palpably throbbing.
