The painting "moonlit night on the Dnieper" was exhibited in 1880 in St. Petersburg, and it was the only painting that made up the exhibition.

Not being fully confident in the success, Kuindzhi invited to his Studio friends and correspondents in order to check on them the force of the impact of the canvas. Even before the end of the workshop was visited by such famous people as Ivan Turgenev, Yakov Polonsky, Ivan Kramskoy, Dmitry Mendeleev.
Picture Kuindzhi "moonlit night on the Dnieper" so impressed the audience that those wishing to look at the "wonder" lined up, and on the way to the exhibition formed a tube of carriages and spans. And all because the moon in the picture so amazingly illuminated the water, and the water came from such a radiance that the audience suspected that the picture put a lantern that creates this magical effect! Petersburg could not unravel the mystery of the painting, the secret of which was certainly not in the hidden lanterns, but in the talent and skill of the artist.

Необычно

Я на первом курсе с друзьями ходила в Третьяковку и единственный художник, который не вызывал скуку был Куинджи. Его работы хотелось разглядывать бесконечно.
