A simpler post this evening; just wanted to share a photo from my walk around our town, earlier today:

This whimsical bronze sculpture of three otters — created by artist Georgia Gerber from Whidbey Island, WA — sits next to the Northwest Maritime Center, here in Port Townsend.

For a sense of scale, this trio measures about 7' (2m+) across and about 3' (90cm) high.

Recently, I wrote a piece somewhat questioning the nature of public art; to me, here's a different kind of example... and one that FITS.

The otters are all around us here and they tend to be rather playful, and can sometimes even be spotted in our waterfront parks... and they are very much a part of our maritime setting.

But — as is true of all art — what is "good" and "bad" is in the eye of the beholder.

Yeah, OK... a little bit spammy, but I'll let it slide...
