Slit scans in Touch Designer
Generative artists love to remix and mashup (or at least I do), it can be good "seed" material. In this case, I was reusing some of my work which i posted on steem several months ago here: https://steemit.com/art/@solrasol/day-of-the-dead
You may recognize some of the colors and basic feel if you compare these images from the source. In this case I processed this video through a slit scanning system in touch designer. I also processed the audio so that it interacted with the image as well.
I'm currently trying to spend a little time in "Touch Designer" every day, doing a tutorials and using them as a base starting point for creating some new work. Touch designer is a massively powerful node based visual programming application to help artists and programmers build audio/visual/interactive patches. After using programs like "Resolume" for a long time you start to hit some walls, and you wonder why the program isn't designed with more flexibility. Once I started to get the hang of Touch Designer, lightbulbs started to go off realizing I can finally build exactly what I want with no restrictions. The flexibility is quite overwhelming when you first start using it, in fact it's taken me years to dive into it more deeply, but i'm so happy to be understanding it better.
Below is what the patch (a/v program) looked like to create these images. The output was constantly scrolling creating the generating it from the original video file, and audio file. In the future I will make some tutorials and overviews of certain patches to give a bit more insight on how to build with touch designer.
