Stranger Things, the Netflix hit series by the Duffer brothers has an intriguing plot, said to be coloured by the hushed epoch of the MK Ultra project. Since the publication of this show, it has brought the topic of MK Ultra in front of the chattering crowd, so I decided to delve deeper in to the subject.

It seems no matter how much information I can gather about the project, it all seems vague and non-specific with a multitude of sub projects branching from and into it. Could it be that documentation about the project was destroyed due to illicit practices and the nature of the project itself being inhumane.

From what I understand MK Ultra started in the 40’s and ended in the 70’s. The primary mandate was mind control by obtaining test subjects, both of voluntary and involuntary means of all ages and types, and perform experiments to the likes of hypnosis, deprivation, isolation, torture and the use of psycho active substances. All conducted by secret bodies across the US, Canada and Russia, possibly and probably more locations as well.

The very first look in to this topic leads in to a giant network of alleged projects such as Montauk, which apparently is what Stranger Things was originally titled. Eleven, being the main character in this show possesses powers such as telekinesis and the ability to locate people through their thoughts using telepathy. She seems to have been kidnapped from her mother, also a MK Ultra subject, at birth by the experimental body and becomes one of their test subjects, the eleventh one.

Who knows, maybe the MK Ultra project is still in full swing in a different degree and has been given another code name, like “Facebook”. Apologies for the blurry close-up, I was unaware of the quality at the time of shooting and due to the nature of the subject matter, I cannot re-shoot it ☹
