(THE STRAW HAT PIRATES)

HELLO EVERYONE!

I love experimenting especially when boredom strikes. It's weekend again and nothing to do but to stare out of the window and imagine things that are beyond my reach or watch movies. But as I browsed my tablet, I saw my box of joy and started thinking.

This time I would want to share with you how I managed to capture beautiful photos of my One Piece collectibles which serve as a gift from my brother who knows well about my addiction with the said anime series.

Growing up in 90's has given me superb anime experience. I used to watch many cartoons and tagalized animes everytime I go home from school when I was still in elementary and highschool (that's after we clean our room and water the plants). I ran fast and tightly hold the remote control. My mother even scolds me oftenly because I don't change my soiled clothes and dirted shoes immediately. I used to throw my bag and things and sit infront of the Television in high volume. (Well I never wanted to be disturbed!)

I love Dragon Ball Z, Ghost Fighter, Flame of Recca, Baki the Grappler, Hunter X Hunter, Slamdunk, Pokemon, Gundam Wing, Zoids, Digimon, Detective Conan, Trigun, Naruto, Doraemon, Mojacko, Voltes V, Daimos, and many more. All are equally entertaining, amusing, and ofcourse, educating. But above all of them, the one that really touched my heart then and now is ONE PIECE!

One Piece is written by a japanese named Eiichiro Oda. The series begun in 1997. It is about a young lad named Monkey D. Luffy and his crew of pirates in quest to find the world's greatest treasure as claimed by Gol D. Roger in a place called Grandline specifically in Raftel. The one who finds the world's greatest treasure, 'One Piece' will be hailed as the King of Pirates.

It is full of twists and turns. My heart is filled with joy because of it. It makes me smile. It excites me in every episode. It thrills me. The dialogues are great. Sometimes it breaks my heart because of the effective dramas. Sometimes it triggers my patience. Really this one is very unpredictable and so inspiring!

MATERIALS

» Black Cartolina
» Flashlight
» 2 Mega Bottles of Softdrinks
» Scotch Tape
» Box of Soap
» Phone Camera

HOW TO DO IT!

As easy as eating a peanut!

» The Black Cartolina will serve as the background of our photos. First fold the Cartolina into half.

» Use the Scotch Tape to adhere the lower half of the Cartolina in the working table. Be sure it is flat laid.

» Get the two bottles of Mega Softdrinks to serve as the back pillars of the Cartolina. Place each one near the ends of the Cartolina. Use the tape to keep it settled.

» Place the flashlight infront of the subjects. Choose the scattered light of the flashlight.

» To add elevation, use any little boxes and cover it with black Cartolina.

» Then take a photo!

ABOUT THE CHARACTERS

The heart of the story is its characters. One piece has provided a multi-complex individuals with different characteristics and abilities. It is like a bowl of salad, a mixture of variety of ingredients that turn out to be a best seller in the menu.

Let me tackle a short details of the main characters while showing you the output of my improvised photo studio.

MONKEY D. LUFFY

He is the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates. Luffy is the main protagonist who has accidentally eaten the devil fruit called Gum-Gum Fruit (when he was still young) which provided him the power of elasticity. He is known as 'Straw Hat', it was given to him by his long lost friend 'Red-Haired Shanks' who saved him from a sea monster when he was still a kid and lost his one arm.

Luffy is a very energetic person, carefree, and a happy-go-lucky one. Well, sometimes dimwitted (just to add comedy) but very serious when it comes to fight. He loves food especially meats. He has a very big appetite.

He never judged someone else but he looks to them in a different way by using his instinct in reading them. He gained the trust of his crew because of his integrity, dignity, and big heart. For him friends are family, a very important thing in life.

Luffy dreams to become the next King of Pirates as he seek the world's greatest treasure bestowed by Gol D. Roger at Grandline. Along his voyage in different seas and oceans he met his crew that has become his family. He also has improved his abilities and become even more powerful. Now he has a 500,000, 000 Belly bounty in the head.

RORONOA ZORO

Zoro was the first one to join Luffy in his quest to grandline after he was saved by Luffy from execution at the Marine base. He is a swordsman with three swords. He is ex-known as a Pirate Hunter because he captures wanted pirates in exchange for money.

Zoro is one of the strongest crew members of Straw Hats. To become the greatest swordsman in the world is his ultimate goal. He is a muscular man and he fights seriously and nobly to his every opponents, evident to this are his scars through out his body. Now he has a 320,000,000 Belly bounty.

NAMI

Nami is the second one to join Luffy. A very sexy and appealing lady. She originally hops on Straw Hats to rob and use it to redeem her town back. She was known as 'Cat burglar' because she is an orphan and very good at stealing. She became officially member and navigator of Straw Hats after Luffy defeated the villain in their town, Arlong Pirates (Nami's former crew).

Aside from being beautiful and attractive, Nami has developed several skills as she goes on with the crew. Her ultimate dream is to draw the map of the world (perfect for her navigator role). Now she has 66,000,000 Belly in her head.

USOPP

Usopp is the sniper of Straw Hats. He is formerly the captain of Usopp pirates (not a real pirate crew). He has a curly and bushy hair. You will know easily that it is Usopp because of his long nose that resembles Pinnochio. He is oftenly funny and comic. He is a coward but he is good at telling lies to frighten his opponents.

Going Merry was given to Straw Hats after. Usopp then became an official member of Straw Hat Pirates. He dreams to become a great warrior like his dad and overcome his cowardship. In time, Usopp has become stronger and developed skills for battle survival. He has an alter-ego called Sogeking and his current bounty is 200,000,000 Belly.

VINSMOKE SANJI

Sanji is the cook of Straw Hat Pirates. He is the lover boy, the gentleman of the group and a little bit pervert. He is known as 'Black Leg' and a former Sous Chef at Baratie. Luffy loves his cooked foods so luffy persistently recruited Sanji to be part of Straw Hats. He has a strong and powerful legs and he uses them during fights.

Sanji dreams to find the 'All Blue', it is the rumored chef's paradise. He was born as Vinsmoke making him as a Prince of Germa Kingdom. He kept it secret until the incident of kidnapping him to marry Big Mom's daughter Pudding. His current bounty is 330,000,000 Belly.

NICO ROBIN

Nico Robin is the Archaeologist of the Straw Hats. She is equally attractive as Nami. A very witty and intelligent lady with a strong and sad history. She survived the big fire that destroyed the land of scholars, Ohara. She is known as the 'Devil's Child' and 'The Light of the Revolution'. She is the only one that has the ability to read and decipher what message every Poneglyphs has to imply. She was then an antagonist but later joined the Straw Hats.

Nico Robin has eaten the Devil Fruit called Hana-Hana or Flower-Flower Fruit. She dreams of finding the Rio Poneglyph which tells the true story of the history. Her bounty is 130,000,000 Belly.

TONY TONY CHOPPER

Chopper is the a human-reindeer doctor of Straw Hats. He is the cutest and youngest member of the crew and he is also known as 'Cotton-Candy Lover'. He came from the Drum Island where he learned to become a doctor. He is always mistaken as a pet of the Straw Hats. And often called as 'Tanuki', raccoon.

Chopper has eaten the Devil Fruit called 'Hito-Hito' or 'Human-Human' fruit which transform its users into human hybrid. His dream is to travel the whole world and cure every diseases. His bounty is 100 Belly.

FRANKY

Franky is the mechanic or shipwright of the Straw Hats. He is the tallest man of the crew with prominent body modifications armed with different weapons, known as 'Cyborg' and 'Iron Man'. He was originally the head of ship dismantlers at Water 7 named Franky Family. He is Cutty Flam but never used the name again because of array of circumstances.

Franky was then an enemy to Straw Hats until incidences happened and found themselves allies. Franky was pushed by his crew to join the Straw Hats especially Going Merry (original ship of Straw Hats) could not continue anymore, Straw Hats needed the expertise of Franky. He dreams to create a ship capable of navigating the world, his dream came true through Thousand Sunny, Franky's creation and the official ship of the Straw Hats. Franky has 94,000,000 Belly in his head.

BROOK

Brook is the skeleton musician of the crew! He was found by Straw Hats in a wrecked ghost ship in the Florian Triangle. He never left the ship for 50 years until Luffy recruited him to be part of the crew. Luffy has always desired a musician on board.

Brook is a very funny man with a profound skill in swordsmanship. He is the oldest member of the crew. He is the user of the Devil Fruit called 'Yomi-Yomi no Mi' or 'Revive-Revive' fruit which brought his life back from the dead although he is already a skeleton. He dreams to travel the whole world and see or meet once again a huge whale named 'Laboon', a friend of him whom he met at the Reverse Mountain. He is widely known as the 'Soul King'. And he has 83,000,000 bounty in his head.

BOA HANCOCK

Boa Hancock is an ally to Straw Hats. She is a member of Schichibukai (the one and only female member). She is a Pirate Princess and dubbed as the 'Snake Princess' of Amazon Lily and the captain of the Kuja Pirates. She was one if the victims of slavery back then but managed to escape.

Boa Hancock is considered as the most beautiful woman in the world. She has the power of a Devil Fruit called 'Mero-Mero' or 'Love-Love' fruit, the ability to make everyone else fall inlove with her and turn them into stones. One notable thing about her is that she is so inlove with Luffy. Her head has a frozen cost of 80,000,000 Belly.

In as much as I would want to include Jinbei, I still don't have his figurine but soon I will have to find for it and include it in my collections.

Yes we may have variety of interests but we must make sure that whatever that interests us should leave us a lesson to realize and live.

You may think that this article is too basic or childish that does not go through the standard of many. But One Piece has taught me a lot of life's lessons. One of my favorite lessons is about friendship, about family, about working together despite differences. It taught me to never discriminate. It taught me that family does not only end with blood, that friends could serve as our family too. We should be willing to fight and defend for them.
