🎨 [Step by Step] - Tutorial: ✨ 🌈 📍 Mini Cork Board + Accordion Flowers with Pearls 📍 🌈 ✨ - By: Tesmoforia.
"Don't think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It's self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can't try to do things. You simply must do things."

When I was cleaning my supply stock the other day, I found an amazing cork piece, the kind of cork that is used for making boards; I almost had forgotten it existed, it was a gift of a girl who did a huge garage sale when she was about to leave the country.
Something that happens to me frequently is that people I do not know (but who have seen my work) give me materials for crafting, and to be honest, this doesn’t bother me at all!
💕 🎁 It’s really sweet that people relate you with a job or hobby that impassions you, and take the time to save some materials for you 🎁 💕
So, I made a series of decorated "Mini-Boards" using cork during May, in order to sell them (and it was amazing!); actually I’m saving money for a new phone, my old Huawei passed away early this year, and I would like to buy a new phone (>uvu)> making this boards helped me to get a bit of cash for this goal 💰 ✨
This kind of items is very trendy, not only for Shabby Chic and Boho Decoration:
👌 🎀 🍒 Little girls love using them
to organize their ribbons and hair ornaments 🍒 🎀 👌

« Accordion Flowers and Pearls »
• "I learned how to make this flowers during 2014, when I started a little business of decorated boxes. They go really well as a substitute of the classic ribbon." - Photo by @Tesmoforia, with a Lumix/Panasonic DMC-FH2.
The process to make those "Accordion Flowers" is simple but meticulous:
✔ First: If we don’t have paper strips or pre-cut cardboard, we must make several strips of approximately 24 centimeters length.
✔ Second: You shall choose the height of the flower, in this case I chose 0,5 centimeter, representing the width of every fold, action that shall be repeated until the end of the strip.
✔ Third: We glue both ends of the accordion forming a little gear, and we will let it dry (you must use school glue; I don’t recommend using hot glue since it will add width to the union and it won’t look well).
✔ Fourth: When forming the gears of accordion, we will force the upper part against a smooth surface and then we will get the flower; we will quickly apply a spot of hot glue with the silicon gun, and we will press the external borders against that center during 30 seconds.
✔ Fifth: When all the Accordion Flowers flattened and glued, over the silicon union (which is usually sunken) we will place a little drop of school glue, and gently place 1 pearl over the drop. We must let it rest within 40 minutes to 1 hour, until the glue looks transparent.
• "This is the real color without edition to the flowers. The rest of the photos look a little pale since they were taken inside the house, during a rainy day." - Photo by @Tesmoforia, with a Lumix/Panasonic DMC-FH2.
Together they form a beautiful and solid pattern: In this case, I make them to decorate the frame of the first cork board (that’s why they are so many).

« STEP N° 1 »
• Recycling, cutting, cleaning and sanding the Cork •
• "Completed piece of Cork." - Photo by @Tesmoforia, with a Lumix/Panasonic DMC-FH2.
I originally thought I would only get 2 little boards from this cork piece, but with help from my measure squads, I got 6 boards of different sizes.
• "Before and After a soft sanding process." - Photo by @Tesmoforia, with a Lumix/Panasonic DMC-FH2.
In the first line, you can see straight and rough edges of the recently cut material. It’s necessary to use the sandpaper softly (and with circling movements) on the entire surface, inside out, until reaching the edges (and both sides!).
• "WARNING: The residual dust of the cork when sanded is very fine and can easily be vacuumed producing allergy and cough. I recommend using a mask and working in a ventilated place." - Photo by @Tesmoforia, with a Lumix/Panasonic DMC-FH2.
I especially emphasize the use of sandpaper because this step completely renews the look and feel of the cork.
The sandpaper not only softens the cuts in the material but also removes the cork layer that has been stained, soiled or mistreated, giving it a totally new appearance.
« STEP N° 2 »
• Decoration and design of the Boards •
• "The white lines are the already placed double-side tape. Many Customers like this method since it avoids the need of piercing the wall with nails or screws to hang this article." - Photo by @Tesmoforia, with a Lumix/Panasonic DMC-FH2.
Decoration shall be according the use of the object. Since this board is supposed to hold things, I placed first 3 lines of thick yellow cord, that are tensed by placing 1 staple to each end on the back of the board, and then they are finished with a little bit of glue so that the fiber does not scratch with the use.
• "An alternative to a regular framework, a minimalist option." - Photo by @Tesmoforia, with Lumix/Panasonic DMC-FH2.
Before applying glue in order to place the flowers, it’s good to explore several alternatives by placing (without gluing them) each element in different positions and styles.

• "Finished!" - Photo by @Tesmoforia, with a Lumix/Panasonic DMC-FH2.
This model uses a total of 18 flowers, and can be made within 3 hours without distractions, however if you wish to manipulate/install it, you shall wait 12 hours (for the amount of glue used to adhere the flowers, which must be school glue, because it allows to move the flowers as many times as necessary while they’re located in the cork without mistreating any of the elements).
« A very Elegant Design »
• Let’s experiment! •
• "This is the style I most identify with." - Photo by @Tesmoforia, with a Lumix/Panasonic DMC-FH2.
An alternative to childish designs and "stationer’s shop-like", is this, an elegant style where lace and subtle details predominate.
• "The combination of lace, wood, cork and metal creates a balanced contrast of textures." - Photo by @Tesmoforia, with a Lumix/Panasonic DMC-FH2.
The most recommended places to place these boards are next to the work desk, the entrance of a room (over the light switch), inside the doors of a closet or next to the hairdresser mirror.
👉 Don’t I need a Plan? 👈

This year I decided to be more impulsive... in regards to the creative topic, which means planning less and creating more, stop saving materials "for the right moment", because that silly moment won’t ever arrive, and the danger of not realizing a project is real:
Because ideas leave and are replaced by new ones, things go out of style, or you simply lose your motivation.
I’m "addict to Ideas", I write lists practically of everything, and I always believed those would help me to keep myself focus; however, being so organized hurts me because if everything isn’t "as it shall be, perfect", I do nothing... (I think this is called "Self-Sabotage").
So now I'm doing everything that gets into my ideas at the moment, with a lot of enthusiasm and super spontaneously (AND WITH A HALF KILOGRAM OF PANIC).
Btw, I'm happy to had saved these pictures in the camera's memory for Steemit, I’m excited with how welcomed my processes have been! ✨ 💌 👀
Thank you so much for Reading!
