Art - Sea Creature - (with steps)

Hello all!

Today I drew a sea creature over a photo that I took on my vacation. Was looking for nice photos to add some lines on them digitally in Photoshop, using a Wacom drawing pad.

Here's the cute guy:

Took the picture when the sun was setting low. Guess it gave it a nice touch of light, over the pebbles on the beach. This lil creature is called: "Seaside Fromenowhereus" since he appears from nowhere and is really a hard catch. They get their lil heads and tails a bit in the sunset and sunbathe. They are feeding on garbage people leave on the shore and then recycle it into seahorses and starfish :D

This imaginary little creep is today's inspiration, will continue to work on these on photo drawings and illustrations. I really like how they turn out to be!

Here is the complete process:

The first step was finding a nice spot to take a photo, waited a bit for the sun to level with the tiny beach rocks and pebbles and took a shot with a phone.

The second phase was to upload the photo on my computer and open it in Photoshop, then I did some base lines of the creature.

Third step, base color in a layer below the line layer.

Number four is adding ears, horn and more details to the drawing.

And the final step, making it more cute and alive. Adding shadows, lights, lighting effects, more color, experimenting with details and adding body texture. Boom, the lil guy is all done!
