Drawing Saurfang from World of Warcraft - With Steps

Hello people!

Long time no see, I drew a lot in the meantime but did not have the time to share it here with you because of work. Nevertheless skills are being upgraded, no day skipping with drawing and physical activity even tough I work night shifts, just to get the food right and find some line of work where I can contribute with drawing.. Ah wishes...

Anyway here's the art:

High Overlord Saurfang

Now, here we have an orc who we all know and love, from World of Warcraft series. He was there for a long time, loyal to the Horde, a warrior with a great sense of honor! Even in times of peril he showed mercilessness, respect and will. There were some hard decisions that he had to take to honor the Horde but it left some scars on his soul.

He was always there, some people do not remember him, that is I guess because he is a guy like that, an old warrior with a death wish that he can not accomplish no matter how hard he tries. There will be a time but his time does not seem to come yet.

With all this in mind and new WOW expansion coming out where Saurfang is one of the main protagonists I decided to give him a portrait inspired by the events and my respect for the writing of a character.

• The illustration was drawn on a paper with an ink marker without sketching and scanned so it can be colored and detailed in Photoshop software on a personal computer with a help of my cheap lil drawing pad friend

Here's the process:

The rough scan of the drawing

Cleaned the background, left the lines, made them have more impact while making them blacker and placed some background placeholder here

Grey base is added for coloring purposes, to separate him from that purple

Spent some time on coloring him

Added a bit of texture work here and there

Shadows and lights works

In the final step I worked on lighting and details to polish it and made some color reductions to kick it up a bit
