Being creative is not something you turn off and on like a switch when you feel like it, not if you’re an artist; it is a full time endeavour, and much like enlightenment can turn your life upside down.

The mind makes more of what it is into; and the more it’s into it the more is made.

Consider the man with the mustache: Salvador dali, does he ever become normal?

When you’re a child in school you go to art classes one session a week and try to do something artistic, and perhaps learn the rudiments of art, but afterwards you go on to other classes to learn other things, and all these things are compartmentalised, in a box.

But if one day you decide to go in search of artistic meaning and become an artist you have to throw yourself into it and give yourself over to the madness that is art.

All good artists have a passion about their art, an intense yearning to create something extraordinary, to go far beyond the boundaries of the ordinary and the mundane in search of meaning, or a transcendence that takes them into the realms of the gods, if only for a short time.

Some, perhaps after they die, such as Vincent Van Gogh only become well known after their living ends, and yet they put such passion into it, it seared their very souls until nothing else mattered; and the art that came from that was exceptional.

Deep inside of us we are all artists at heart and create in the most unusual of ways. Look at the child absorbed in discovery, every move a work of wonder.

What is it to be creative?

Is it the ability to let go of all that restrains us and just be our unique self?

Or perhaps it is genius that some say is god given. How would we ever know if we don’t try?

In our moment of falling across the river of our intention to become, the first stepping stone appears as if by magic; and the rest are found as they are needed, one after the other.

Some may say they have always been there, and hiding just out of sight. But I like to think that the river guides our feet in such a way that they find the stepping stones to take us across to the other side, to let it be known that we are not alone, and that if we would but risk it (ask), then what we need will appear for us.

An artist might paint this picture so that we see it in our minds to help us find our way; and to me, these are the greatest artists, for they have been where we would go, and leave a trail of petals to follow as we go towards the light of our understanding through the desert of our doubt and concepts.

And how many levels are there of our understanding?

In our minds there are many. But in our heart there is only one, and that is love where we bloom from the creation of our being.

And as to love, well, there are many types of love you may never know, and many you will outgrow, but do not lose hold of this one, the only love you will ever really know, is the love that is you.

But if you forget in all your knowing in the cave of your closest pursuit, then know this before you are swallowed whole: that which you pursue is following you, closer than close can be.

In all the creation circles you can find yourself in, love is king.

So brave your heart, and if for no one else, go make something grand today, and be the artist you’ve always wanted to be….

I find that being creative is hard.. if it comes it would be of great impact .. very much like the writing that we do here. We just can’t force out like a post just so to keep up with everyone. Especially for art, it’s even harder as everyone has a different perspective of how art is suppose to be.

Agreed. For me I have to be in the zone to produce my best art, the art that flows freely
