African Art, Stone Carvings!
Hey everyone, I really do enjoy African art. Can you imagine the time and attention to detail it takes to carve these out of rock? I recently went shopping at a store near me and they do regular 'flea markets' outside many of the retailers and these were on display!
Once these have been carved they need to be polished too, which is done with a buffing machine easily fitted to a drill or some folks use a specialized grinding disk. Naturally in Africa the 'Big Five' in on display as well as a few other epic sculptures!
Their talent in creating these spectacular pieces of work know no limits, they do wire and beaded art too another African favorite as can be seen below!
A beaded/wired Rhino and Birds and below that a sheep from wire only.
Africa truly is an interesting place.

what kind of rock do they use and what tools do they use to shape the animals?
