The New Dress - a sculpture
I so enjoyed making this sculpture of a young lady looking in the mirror to see if her dress is becoming. As always, I worked from a live model and tried to simplify the figure so that it would not be too "stuck" in a specific time frame. The girl who posed was lovely, a close friends daughter. Simple dress, simple classic hair. The piece is about one half life size.
In this studio photo the mirror element has yet to be added.
And a photo of the entire piece cast in bronzed resin before installation. The mirror frame was created for me by artist Marsha Lega.
The sculpture installed in the shopping center.

The quote is very apt and fitting and thought provoking....even in the book of Genesis.....it is said God created some of the trees for the pleasure of the soul and others for food.
