This is a design layout for a book cover I created for a friend who is also a sci-fi writer. She never actually published the book. I chose to do the cover for a graphic design project in grad school, while studying for a masters in Graphic Design. The art and design were entirely created by me. The art is mixed media: The background and dais and throne were created in SoftImage on an SGI computer; The characters were drawn in colored pencil. After layering the characters into the 3D background around the throne on the dais, I created a third layer mock up of the cover details.
