Pen & Ink Fashion Illustration – #ArtZone

Pictured are several examples of pen and ink fashion illustration from my college days. The clothes are all my own original designs.

The following first four illustrations were drawn with simple fine-point markers.

This formal jumpsuit would have been made of silk jersey, with iridescent bugle-beaded lace for the décolletage and color. The little hat would have been a modified short fez, wrapped in the same silk jersey.

This fun little suit would have been made of summer-weight wool, preferably Pendleton, paired with a silk blouse and soft-sparkle cravat. The tier-formed hat would have been standard felt, with a sparkling tulle short veil.

This wedding gown was actually made for someone for a winter wedding. It was in soft blush-colored organza, with sheer sleeves and décolletage, with faux-pearl buttons, and a delicate tulle veil. The bride added a little antique tiara-headpiece of her own, and the design was styled to incorporate the bride’s own antique cameo broach. The ruffles were an addition requested by the bride.

This is one of the designs presented to the bride, but not chosen. I imagined velvet for this gown, with satin piping and trim and bows, plus a sheer décolletage and sleeves, with an antique cameo on the collar, paired with a very fine tulle veil.

The next three illustrations are three peignoir sets, drawn using my calligraphy pens. They were all drawn as costume pieces for a college theatre production – I don’t recall what show it was, but I rather think it was something Modern Gothic, given the style I chose for illustration and the details on the designs.
