这是的圣彼得大教堂的壮丽景色，在Via della Conciliazione尽头，另一头向东通往Castel Sant'Angelo。面对着大教堂，采用一条十分正式的路线是令人印象深刻的。
在广场上就是埃及方尖碑，当时主教通过在它上面放一个十字架，就把它实现基督化了。

My Sketch: St Peter's Basilica, Vatican.

This is the grand view of St Peter at the end of the Via della Conciliazione, which runs to the Castel Sant' Angelo on the eastern end. It is just impressive to have a very formal approach to the Basillica. Right in the piazza is the Egyptian obelisk, which is Christianized by putting a cross on top of it.
That is how religion works, you get what you want and make it your own by putting your mark on it! Easy.
Does the obelisk make people ever wonder what is this Egypt obelisk doing here in front of the greatest church building?
In the ancient days, the obelisk was placed in front of Egyptian temples, often in pairs. Then as the Western world gain power, they came to Egypt and seized whatever they like. Currently, there are 26 obelisks survived in the world, 13 of them are in Rome, only 6 remains in Egypt and 7 are scattered among the rest of the world's city, such as London, Paris, Istanbul and New York. History is cruel.
