Mainstream Media Reporting Assange's Poor Health, Can't Make Video Court Appearance
Mainstream media is picking up on Assange's ill health in their reports that he is missing his court hearing for US extradition.
Assange's defense lawyer Gareth Pierce reports that Assange's health has detoriorated over the past 7 weeks while in Belmarsh Prison. Assange can't even appear by video. Given his ailing condition, is he even fit to stand any trial at all, be it in the UK, US or Sweden?
This was only a short hearing, where about 2 dozen supporters protested the trial of Assange chanting "free Assange." Judge Emma Arbuthnot said the more substantive extradition hearing is on June 12. That court hearing will be moved to the courthouse next to Belmarsh to convenience Assange.
The mainstream media is reporting much else. I wonder if they would have even reported on the ailing health of Assange if there was no court hearin that he missed out on appearing at?
It seems to me that the story was about him missing the court hearing, and that reason was due to ill health. If the state of his health was detoriorating over the past few weeks, then it's been noticed earlier.
The first who spoke about the degrading health condition of Assange was WikiLeaks Editor Kristinn Hrafnsson and Pamela Anderson who visisted Assange 3 weeks ago. Hrafnsson said:
"It is for me shocking to see my friend, an intellectual, a publisher, a journalist, a man who that transformed the world of journalism with his work."
Anderson was teary eyed speaking of his condition. Since then, Assange's condition seem to have gotten worse. Being unable to even communicate well is an indication of the gravity of his degrading condition.
This seems to be more than a simple deterioration due to prison or confinement in the embassy. As I reiterated earlier today from another post 3 weeks ago, is this the result of psychotropic drug torture at the hands of intelligentsia who "visited" and "treated" Assange in prison?
A 7 week stay in a prison doesn't seem to render anyone else unable to communicate properly. Why Assange?
The current condition of Assange leads me to believe that earlier unsubstantiated reports, from alleged insiders in the authoritarian system, are more accurate than not. That Assange has been drugged up and his mind tortured.

This is a tragedy of epic proportion. The mainstream media totally spins the entire story to appease the U.S. establishment. What they do not realize is political winds can often change. Journalists are suppose to be a defense against corruption. The problem with them being a participant in it, the winds can turn on them. Today's story supporting the establishment could turn into grounds to attack one.
We tend not to learn from history.
I believe you are correct. The track record for the authoritarian state is not very good. To believe they treated him well and did not torture him is unlikely. There is no doubt in my mind they went full CIA on him with even thinking twice.
Yes, they are complicit in hiding much about society through their silence.
Good point, the fact is - you don't see other people breakdown so fast - I speculate that they are probably putting things in his food. It is a sad case, and it is depressing to think about. Great article. Also - that two weeks, he could not see anyone - as his mother stated, what happened to him in that time? Its like he is in some prison in some third world or something. Indeed, this is setting the future, if Assange loses, we all will lose in the long term.
Assange has been existentially harmed. We are all at risk already. What we have lost is impossible to calculate, but our posterity is at grave risk.
