New Moon Issues

Personal focus ---> Much of this month's considerable workload involves meeting commitments you made a while ago ... that may have grown way beyond what you expected. There's not a lot of new stuff coming on board for a while -- which is a blessing, because you're got all you can handle. Be aware of the toll this takes on you physically and emotionally. Find ways to get some extra rest.

The workload you've been handed (or taken on) is serious enough to shake your confidence in even your own formidable abilities. You may not be used to working full out with demands for every bit you can handle. But this month will really push the envelope -- and show you what you can do when you put your mind and heart into it. (But I agree there might be far easier ways to learn the same lesson.)

You'll meet your challenges with an open and generous spirit. This approach will work well -- and smooth out potential bumps on the way to getting your life arranged the way you want it now. Aim for the Win-Win solution to problems. People respond well to that when they see you're on their side as well as your own.

Some of what you'll achieve this month will be important steps in building your new life direction. You may have seen for a while that you need some course corrections -- to put yourself in line with your purpose. Sometimes those decisions -- and actions -- can be hard and upsetting. This month, they're easy. Use the momentum ... and coast when you can. Take hold of the reins ... and guide your direction.

Depression may be a serious problem though -- and this doesn't help. You need to set reasonable limits on what you can humanly do, how much rest you need, how to take care of yourself physically by eating right and managing your stress with sensible boundaries. You're almost certainly coping better than you give yourself credit for. Don't let your imagination run away with you and undermine your confidence.

Mercury Issues

Ideas, communication, information ---> Your mind right now is objective, logical and focused. You've reviewed your intentions and goals (while Mercury was retrograde). You've put together some plans you can trust -- and you're in the one-foot-in-front-of-the-other stage of making them happen. Being able to analyze your situation this clearly for now is a genuine gift.

If this isn't your normal way to think and work, the difference may be surprising. That doesn't mean you can't make good use of it though. Trust your ideas and instincts. There is a lot of practical energy available now. Use it to find the resources you need. Map out the work it will take to make your projects succeed ... and build with an eye on the future. Structure and durability are things to keep in mind now.

Get organized. Be efficient. Be determined. Your mind is on board to help you accomplish all this This is one of the most pragmatic, detail-conscious combinations of all. Don't get lost in the minutiae, but set your course, be sensible and build for the long term.

Venus Issues

Relationships and resources ---> These life areas have kind of a hard go of it this month. Venus has recently moved into Scorpio, and it is not real comfortable there. It's a time when you take a hard look at the partners you work with -- everything from business partners, to spouses, to really close friends ... and you judge whether they are adequately meeting the requirements you have for your future.

That can sound really calculating and distant when phrased in those "bottom line" terms, but that's what's happening. (And it helps to at least be clear on it.) The partners you want to keep, you may try to improve by various means. Often, this takes the form of trying to manipulate them into changing to suit you -- getting what you need from them by underhanded means, rather than asking for it directly.

I'd say you should try to avoid that as much as possible, but the simple fact is, Scorpio is a very devious sign. Asking straight out for something goes against its nature. It hates to tip its hand. It hates to give away its plans and intentions. It hates to risk "interference" from someone who has different ideas. So it maneuvers whenever possible. Being honest is too much of a gamble.

This is part of the reason Scorpio has such an unfortunate reputation. It takes a lot of inference and intuition to understand what they're up to -- and they don't make it easy ... on purpose.

Be aware that his super-sneaky energy is at work in your relationships this month -- and influencing the way you use money as well. You may have everyone's best interests at heart ... but trying to change people naturally meets with a lot of resistance. And when all the grief and drama aren't worth it to you ... you may just decide to replace your problem people and start over with somebody else.

That's on your mind, whether you want to admit it or not. It's why the transit of Venus in Scorpio can spell trouble. And Venus retrogrades in Scorpio this year -- starting on October 5. We won't be completely done with all this until after the first of the year.

Mars Issues

Action ---> This is a month for a pretty free-wheeling attitude in the actions you take. Don't let force-of-habit hinder you. Be ready to innovate, invent and try some original ventures. By taking appropriate risks, you can accomplish things you've never managed before -- even things that have never been done before. Period. Those kinds of results are worth taking a few chances.

Experiment. Ask yourself "What if ...?" questions. Get in touch with like-minded thinkers and follow their advice and examples. Above all, be your original self!! You won't go wrong if you do. You'll learn things -- particularly things about yourself and your confidence in following your own lights -- you wouldn't have come by any other way.

This month and its events could be a real turning point in the course of your journey. Try to observe as much as participate. It will give you a very interesting view of yourself and your place in The Grand Scheme of Things. But above all, trust yourself. Take a deep breath. Do your part. And let Life show you possibilities you haven't yet seen. (Yes, it can be that kind of month -- if you let it.)

There are lots of "chart services" on the internet -- some of whom produce decent, readable charts "for free" and some are so awful and confusing that even I can't read them easily -- and I've worked with charts for decades.

One extremely user-friendly chart site is here: AstroLabe. I recommend them if you want a simple, easy-to-read chart. I think they even give a reasonable little interpretive reading of your horoscope as part of the package. You'll need to know your birth information -- day, month, year, time and geographical place. Without all that your chart will have limited accuracy.

Although sometimes the background pictures in our visual essays support the topic and text, they don't always. Sometimes the connection is clear. Sometimes it's symbolic and subtle. Sometimes, there's no connection at all.

The scenes depict landscapes and natural features, buildings and wildlife. They were chosen because they show something lovely or interesting ... or simply because the photo appealed to me.

Our spectacular and remarkable planet is changing at astonishing speed. Rarely are these changes for the better. Few people seem to know ... or care ... or have the will and power to do anything about this. It may not be long before the world humans have known and lived in for centuries is forever lost. We certainly won't be able to make repairs as fast as we destroyed it.

So a few years ago I began collecting pictures of the way things were ... and still are for now, a record of the beauty we have while it is still ours to love and honor.

The photos here are part of that collection, with sincere thanks to the artists who saw these moments ... and with their cameras ... preserved them.
