The Other Side of Aries Energy -- When Aries energy goes wrong

Red is an Aries color!
When it's good ... it's great!
So, a few days ago I wrote about how to use your Aries energy wisely -- to get things done, to shake things up, to have an impact on the world. We all have this potential. We all have Aries energy somewhere in our character. We all make use of it to one degree or another.
Some people do this frequently -- and are pretty upfront and open about it. Some people use it in ways that are fairly subtle and quiet. Still others have trouble coming to grips with it at all.
Just as any energy can be used for the purpose designed, it can also be repressed. It can become twisted -- and toxic. And when that happens, it puts out a lot of signals that something is wrong -- and needs attention -- and needs to be set right.

When things go awry
Discomfort is a wonderful teacher. Pain gets your attention. And for some of us ... that's what it takes.
In Oriental medicine, pain is considered to be a symptom of blocked energy, blocked Chi. Its causes are many, but treatment essentially comes when the practitioner takes action to unblock the clogged energy channel, to break the logjam ... so the chi can disperse as intended and flow naturally again.

Setting things right
Relief comes when the body and psyche are restored to health and wholeness, and are able to function as intended again. (The same concept applies to a painful situation if we have the wit and wisdom to apply this theory to that kind of "treatment." It's why communication is such a great tool.)
Each of the Zodiac signs represents a certain kind of energy and tactics for constructively using that energy . There are ideal, balanced ways to use each energy -- in which case, it does its work well, achieves predictable and proper results, and sets up your situation (including your life) for the next step of development, the next energy in the creative cycle to take over and, like subcontractors in a building project, do the next phases of necessary work ... and move on in turn.

Recognizing the signs
When Aries energy is blocked or misdirected, you may experience some of the following physical and psychological symptoms.
Psychologically ...
- You have no energy, no ambition, no initiative.
- You feel fearful, anxious, unable to take care of yourself, always "on the defensive."
- You feel victimized, exploited, "walked all over," and unable to defend what's important to you.
- You feel angry all the time ... or seriously depressed. (Anger is a strong element in Aries energy. Anger tells you when your boundaries have been violated. Depression is anger turned inward -- because it is blocked from expressing itself against the "real target" of its fury. Depression and repressed anger can literally kill you if they continue long enough.)
- Your libido is flat. You have no healthy sexual or creative outlets. Your passion either doesn't exist -- or has no constructive place to go.

And also ...
- You feel you never get anywhere. You either can't get things started ... or once started, you lack the follow-through to get them finished. (What's more ... you may not care.)
- You feel invisible ... as if no one takes notice of you and you have no clear strategies to get your needs met.
- You're irritable, cranky, impatient. You get in quarrels, fights, frustrating conflicts and competitions. You clearly have "anger issues," temper tantrums, violent outbursts. You throw things, destroy property ... are a danger to other people and animals.
- You are constantly bullied, brow-beaten, manipulated, shunted aside, put on hold, taken advantage of ....
- You're afraid to take action on your own, make decisions, take responsibility, give orders and directions. You need permission to act ... and "take a vote" on everything you do to make sure you're not upsetting somebody.

And also ...
- You constantly need help. You stand back and let others make choices for you ... or do things you should be doing for yourself.
- You have no self-confidence, no self-esteem, you feel worthless and ineffective.
- You apologize a lot. You back down -- or otherwise avoid -- conflict and confrontation.
- You feel powerless.
- You can't declare what you want, say what you think or take a stand on anything. People treat you like a doormat.

And finally ...
Physically ...
- You're anemic.
- You suffer from severe or chronic headaches, migraines, double vision.
- You have accidents that often involve head injuries -- or bumping your head. (Literally a form of banging your head against a brick wall.)
- You suffer from conditions associated with inflammation -- such as rashes, herpes, cold sores, acne, fevers. Also accidents involving burns.
- You often feel brain-fogged, unable to think clearly.
