The Story of Life
It repeats every month

The Waxing Moon ---> Every month, the cycle of life is played out symbolically in the heavens -- from the new beginnings at every New Moon ... to the new learning that comes with the Crescent Moon phase -- to the adjustments in your foundations with the First Quarter Moon's arrival.

From there we go to the expansion of your abilities and practical applications that happen with the Gibbous Moon phase -- followed by the conflicts and adjustments in both you and your relationships that come with the Full Moon's arrival.

Like breathing

I've heard all this compared to breathing. You begin to inhale with the New Moon ... and your lungs fill with air through all the phases I just mentioned. At the Full Moon, you're lungs are full and replenishing your body and blood with life-giving oxygen.

You pause there for a second to enjoy all the sensations and benefits ... and then the exhale begins.

Over and over ... and over

The Waning Moon ---> You release new knowledge and the results of your recent experiences, incorporating them into your basic "rules for living" as the Disseminating Moon graces the sky. You make adjustments in your public life, your professional direction and how you contribute back to the community with the second Half Moon's Moon's appearance, the Third Quarter Moon if you're keeping track that way.

You envision new goals and connect with new compatible thinkers and concepts as the Balsamic Moon moves out onstage. And then everything closes down for several beats as your lungs empty, the Dark of the Moon brings its restful energy for you to savor ... and new creative projects push their way to the surface.

And over ...

Then as the pressure to breathe again becomes more urgent ... you start the process all over. You realize there's more you want to do, more you want to create, more to you that needs to blossom. And so you get going.

Breath by breath, you move forward. New Moon by New Moon, you progress. It's the Story of Life from the micro to the macro. And as I write this, we're getting ready to do it again.

The New Moon in Sagittarius

This New Moon is in Sagittarius ... the Sign of the Wanderer, the Teacher, the Zodiac's Philosophical Soul. It's time to figure out what you need to know that you don't know yet ... especially if what you don't know is where you want to go next. What do you want to study? Where would new learning be helpful -- or downright essential -- to the next stage you can see taking shape?

In what new direction do your philosophical beliefs and ethical principles point you? How have you grown since last year and acquired more expertise in your specialized fields? How have you become more valuable to yourself, to society, to the people you work for -- and what new direction does this mean for your future?

It's worth thinking about

It may take some time -- and thought -- to come up with these answers. Most of us don't operate that consciously in our daily lives. But the answers to those questions can really help you appreciate yourself more -- and see the smaller stages of your life as pieces of a much bigger process. That alone will broaden your perspective if you take some time -- and do it right. I hope you do.

It's becoming more and more urgent to center yourself -- and define who you are and what you stand for as global politics -- and the policies of many nations -- reach a crisis point. (Which is happening soon!! Much sooner now rather than later!!)

Change is coming

Matters of ethics, philosophy, social responsibility and the connection of humankind on all levels are no longer esoteric topics ... or dinner table conversation ... or confined to your troublesome thoughts late at night.

The proverbial sh*t is going to hit the fan over the next two years -- and you'll need to stand up and be counted. When the time comes, you'll need to occupy your ethical center with a clear, unequivocal conscience ... and be part of the change that's creating the future. (That's one huge part of why you've arrived here ... and were born in the first place ... believe it or not.)

Get ready ... and be there

Your voice will join with those of like-minded thinkers ... and open the new path humanity is preparing to travel. If that sounds like one huge responsibility -- it is. So don't take it lightly. And don't blow it off.

The Shift we've heard about from mystics, visionaries and spiritual writers and thinkers is taking shape out on the horizon. Stand still a moment. Watch it happen. And be ready to take your place and play your part when at last it arrives.

This coming New Moon is one of the last important preparation checkpoints. (So is the one in Aquarius two months from now. Just sayin.' And we'll get one more before January 2020 arrives.) Think. And remember to b-r-e-a-t-h-e.

What to do this month

  • Learn more, take on advanced education, become more of an expert in fields where you're already good and experienced.
  • Increase your personal value in ways that give back to the community as well as enrich you as a person with what you do with your life.
  • Become more a citizen of the world. Realize a greater obligation to humanity. Don't stay locked in your provincial place and perspectives.
  • Define your political position, your spiritual principles, your moral convictions, your ethical beliefs. Put them in writing or broadcast them somehow -- so "your people" can find you ... and you will know one another.
  • Be crystal clear on what you believe ... and teach ... and stand for -- and why these beliefs are an example others can and should follow.
  • Walk your talk -- live by your own standards ... so you become that living example. (There is no better publicity for your position that doing exactly that.)
  • Accept / realize that the world will renew itself soon -- and if you are alive, you are part of that. Be there when it happens. Wake up.

Thank you for stopping by!

If you've always known there was more to Astrology than Sun Sign material and the three line daily horoscope in the newspaper, climb aboard and follow this blog. You'll find a world of wisdom detailing how you were designed to work with life ... and why you are the way you are -- all in quick-to-read, easy-to-digest-and-remember, written-in-plain-English essays that offer plenty of food for thought.

Little by little, I'm doing a set of articles that talks about all the elements in your horoscope and what they have to say about you. If you "know something" about Astrology -- or know something about your chart placements, that will help you get more from this material.

If you don't ... well, this is one place you can learn. We all have to start somewhere ... because we aren't born knowing this stuff. Meanwhile, if you've never seen your horoscope ... and don't have a clue how to work with it, maybe it's time to find out. There are lots of "chart services" on the internet -- some of whom produce decent, readable charts "for free" and some are so awful and confusing that even I can't read them easily -- and I've worked with charts for decades.

One extremely user-friendly chart site is here: AstroLabe. I recommend them if you want a simple, easy-to-read chart. I think they even give a reasonable little interpretive reading of your horoscope as part of the package. You'll need to know your birth information -- day, month, year, time and geographical place. Without all that your chart will have limited accuracy.

Or, if you want to get serious and really talk about this, upvote this post and start a conversation in the comments section sometime in the next six days from the time of publication. We'll go from there depending on what you want to know.

Questions about any of this? -- Upvote this post and talk to me in comments. It's a terrific way to build value for yourself and the community ... and it will give me ideas of what to write about in future posts. Believe me there is lots to say about the way The Sun, The Moon -- and all the other elements in a horoscope, all the other components of Astrology -- work together to interpret you and your story -- and what it all means to the person you've become.

This is who I am.

About the art in our visual essays ...

Although sometimes the background pictures in our visual essays support the topic and text, they don't always. Sometimes the connection is clear. Sometimes it's symbolic and subtle. Sometimes, there's no connection at all.

The scenes depict landscapes and natural features, buildings and wildlife. They were chosen because they show something lovely or interesting ... or simply because the photo appealed to me.

Our spectacular and remarkable planet is changing at astonishing speed. Rarely are these changes for the better. Few people seem to know ... or care ... or have the will and power to do anything about this. It may not be long before the world humans have known and lived in for centuries is forever lost. We certainly won't be able to make repairs as fast as we destroyed it.

So a few years ago I began collecting pictures of the way things were ... and still are for now, a record of the beauty we have while it is still ours to love and honor.

The photos here are part of that collection, with sincere thanks to the artists who saw these moments ... and with their cameras ... preserved them. All of us at Enchanted Spirit are profoundly grateful to them for their generosity and skill ... and for the added grace, depth and dimension their art brings to ours.

I grabbed this shot as I was walking in to work the other day and I seriously thought of you. It is hard to see, but the lower bright spec is the crescent moon. The other bright spec I am assuming is a planet, but I wasn't sure which one. I tried to use my Google Sky Maps, but it was cold out! Nice post!

That will be Jupiter. It crossed into Sagittarius a couple of weeks ago, and that's right where it should be.

A several years back I did an online class on Moon Phases. Even I found it interesting (and actually got something from it), watching the Moon in the sky change and go through its paces as each new class was published -- a new one about every three days.

(It's true. The teacher often gets more from the class than the students. People say, if you want to learn something ... prepare to teach it. That's true, too. It works like a charm.)

Thanks for dropping in. And thanks for the picture!

Very true! Working in education I can really attest to that! Thanks for the info! I would have guessed it was a closer planet :)

Well, if you took the picture a couple of days ago, like around the 4th, you're right. In that case it would be Venus. The Moon was still in Scorpio back then and Venus just moved into that sign. Today ... that would be Jupiter -- 'cause everything's moved into Sagittarius, but I agree, it does seem a little too bright. For as immense as it is, Jupiter is so far away that it "loses a lot in translation." Let's call it Venus. Even I'm more comfortable with that.

Works for me. It was on the 4th that I took the photo. Good intuition!

Thank you, i appreciate your posts very much. Cheers!

Thank you kindly for saying so. That means a lot. (And now that Steemit doesn't show views any more ... at least it shows somebody read it!!) Have a great week-end.

Oh i've read a couple of your posts..and checked the astro labe? I was clueless so i left it alone.
Am sure that more than me appreciate your posts. It's difficult to sort of engage without knowing anything about astrology☺
Be well!

Things have been crazy recently. It seems not so much like a shift as a torrential flood of change, disruption and disasters. I'm not sure if it's due to the new moon or some other planetary phenomenon!

The Scorpio transits were just brutal this year. Worse than usual -- and that's saying something. I honestly hope this New Moon helps get some things straightened out. Mercury turned direct yesterday, too -- and moves out of its shadow on Christmas Eve. So that's finished for a little while at least. But I agree -- we're all dealing with an awful lot of repercussions. (Make you scared to wake up in the morning!!)

A small good(ish) thing has happened this evening after a rotten day, so hopefully things are starting to improve! I have Scorpio ascendant and moon, so maybe that's why it's hit so hard recently.

Congratulations! This post has been chosen as one of the daily Whistle Stops for The STEEM Engine!
