Mars -- finishing up in Capricorn

Mars has been traveling in Capricorn for a while -- since March 17, so the attitudes and interests that accompany this Zodiac position for this planet have been in evidence for about seven weeks. We've all worked with this influence, consciously or otherwise -- and with the wisdom of hindsight it can be interesting to look back and notice how much it has recently colored our lives.

If you've been especially focused for the last couple of months on your career prospects, your professional commitments, your personal ambitions and questions of what you want to do with your life and where do you go from here -- this is part of the reason why. Mars in Capricorn brings these matters forward for attention ... and it's only one of three Astrological placements pushing this agenda now.

Saturn and Pluto are in Capricorn, too, and we can't really talk about one without somehow considering and talking about what these companions are up to as well.

What Mars means

In Astrology, Mars symbolizes action. It describes the way you use physical energy -- to get things done, to accomplish work, to pursue your desires, to make things happen.

Anything that requires you to move, accomplish work or otherwise physically do something -- to spend energy and invest yourself in the outcome -- is described and ruled, directed and shaped, by the way you use your Mars energy.

What Capricorn means

Capricorn energy is aloof, reserved and extremely self-sufficient. It is dedicated to accomplishing work, building something, creating products of lasting value from the time and labor it invests. It has enormous ambition and never wastes its time on trivial matters. The advice, "don't sweat the small stuff," is a little too flip and frivolous to have come from a Capricorn's mind -- but that is its sentiment in a nutshell.

Capricorn knows if you keep your eye on the prize and work slowly, carefully and consistently toward your ultimate goal, that that "the small stuff" will somehow get taken care of, even though he knows he may have to tend to most of the details himself.

So that's the attitude we've been applying to our professional lives, our work projects and our long-term objectives. It's all aimed at you deciding what you want to do with your life now. What do you want to create? What do you want to experience? Where do you go from here?

Capricorn is willing to do the work required -- even if there's a barge-load of it, but in the end, he darn sure expects a nice pay-off.

What Mars in Capricorn means

Astrologers say Mars is exalted in Capricorn ... and, yes, that sounds pretty high-falutin. But in Astrology there are definite correlations between the energies and interests of a planet and the attitudes and perspectives of a sign. When a planet matches a sign in this regard, it is said to rule that sign.

Mars, the planet of action, self-assertion and passion, for instance is said to "rule" Aries, a sign that matches those qualities word for word. But Capricorn's focus on attainment and self-sufficiency puts Mars' energy to work in very compatible ways. It doesn't have to make a lot of adjustments. It can get down to business just being itself.

Mars in Capricorn is resolute, purposeful and not afraid of hard work. In fact, the more he can depend on his own labor and skills to accomplish his aims, the better he likes it. He's not relying on anyone else. He can do things his way. And if he falls short or has to do something over, he knows he has only himself to blame.

That kind of accountability suits him just fine. He's pretty well convinced no one can do things as well as he can in the first place. So these are the attitudes you've worked with in your world and professional life for the last six to seven weeks. You've had plenty of initiative to draw on, fueled by the conviction that the only limits you had to observe were your own resourcefulness and stamina.

What Saturn means

Saturn is basically the taskmaster and slave-driver of the Zodiac. He's focused on structure, laborious effort and the construction of things built slowly over time. I suppose this is why most people consider his energy tiresome and unwelcome.

For those who are looking for an easy life ... or a lucky break once in a while, he can be pretty annoying. He inspires grand ambitions and long-term plans, things that take lots of planning and toil, along with careful management and plenty of patience to develop. Nothing he's involved with pays off quickly ... but it does pay off eventually. For some of us, that's a fair bargain. For others, not so much.

More on what Capricorn means

Saturn as an energy -- as an actor in the scheme of life -- and Capricorn's dour, business-like attitudes fit each other hand-in-glove. Capricorn is exacting and persistent. He's a good judge of his own abilities, and he doesn't cut corners. What he builds is solid, reliable and impressive. Again, he won't waste himself in trivial ventures. He plays the long-game ... every time out.

Capricorn energy lives by rules and regulations. He sets high standards ... and hits his target or dies trying. There's no such thing as "second-best" in his world. He prides himself on excellence -- and won't settle for less. He respects tradition, authority and "the chain of command." In Capricorn's world there is order -- and organization so he knows what's happening and what to expect.

What Saturn in Capricorn means

Saturn in Capricorn invites you to set yourself high standards in your public commitments and professional life ... and then work like a dog to meet them. It asks you to live by a strict set of self-imposed rules where diligence and dedication are virtues, and hitting the mark ... reaching success as you define it ... is the only acceptable outcome.

When Saturn is in Capricorn, you make careful choices. You are extremely thorough in your designs ... especially ones that affect your image, status and public life, and you follow through on your agenda come what may. Saturn in Capricorn is industrious and up to the job at hand -- whatever the task you've set for yourself ... or been handed by Life and its demanding requirements.

When Saturn is in Capricorn, you prove to yourself what you can do when you try -- and you'll have plenty of opportunity to practice new skills and polish old ones. Saturn is just getting started on a 2 1/2 year trek through its home territory. It moved into Capricorn from Sagittarius a few days before last Christmas ... and it will linger here on its home turf for a good long time.

Thank you for stopping by!

If you've always known there was more to Astrology than Sun Sign material and the three line daily horoscope in the newspaper, climb aboard and follow this blog. You'll find a world of wisdom detailing how you were designed to work with life ... and why you are the way you are -- all in quick-to-read, easy-to-digest-and-remember, written-in-plain-English essays that offer plenty of food for thought.

Little by little, I'm doing a set of articles that talks about all the elements in your horoscope and what they have to say about you. If you "know something" about Astrology -- or know something about your chart placements, that will help you get more from this material.

If you don't ... well, this is one place you can learn. We all have to start somewhere ... because we aren't born knowing this stuff. Meanwhile, if you've never seen your horoscope ... and don't have a clue how to work with it, maybe it's time to find out. There are lots of "chart services" on the internet -- some of whom produce decent, readable charts "for free" and some are so awful and confusing that even I can't read them easily -- and I've worked with charts for decades.

One extremely user-friendly chart site is here: AstroLabe. I recommend them if you want a simple, easy-to-read chart. I think they even give a reasonable little interpretive reading of your horoscope as part of the package. You'll need to know your birth information -- day, month, year, time and geographical place. Without all that your chart will have limited accuracy.

Or, if you want to get serious and really talk about this, upvote this post and start a conversation in the comments section sometime in the next six days from the time of publication. We'll go from there depending on what you want to know.

Questions about any of this? -- Upvote this post and talk to me in comments. It's a terrific way to build value for yourself and the community ... and it will give me ideas of what to write about in future posts. Believe me there is lots to say about the way The Sun, The Moon -- and all the other elements in a horoscope, all the other components of Astrology -- work together to interpret you and your story -- and what it all means to the person you've become.

This is who I am.

About the art in our visual essays ...

Although sometimes the background pictures in our visual essays support the topic and text, they don't always. Sometimes the connection is clear. Sometimes it's symbolic and subtle. Sometimes, there's no connection at all.

The scenes depict landscapes and natural features, buildings and wildlife. They were chosen because they show something lovely or interesting ... or simply because the photo appealed to me.

Our spectacular and remarkable planet is changing at astonishing speed. Rarely are these changes for the better. Few people seem to know ... or care ... or have the will and power to do anything about this. It may not be long before the world humans have known and lived in for centuries is forever lost. We certainly won't be able to make repairs as fast as we destroyed it.

So a few years ago I began collecting pictures of the way things were ... and still are for now, a record of the beauty we have while it is still ours to love and honor.

The photos here are part of that collection, with sincere thanks to the artists who saw these moments ... and with their cameras ... preserved them. All of us at Enchanted Spirit are profoundly grateful to them for their generosity and skill ... and for the added grace, depth and dimension their art brings to ours.

I absolutely love the way you write about this, @enchantedspirit!

I have been very much in-joying this transit and feel like this energy could herald healing changes that assist us all in how we embrace ourselves as that parent who we've seen doesn't really exist here in the way "Patriarchy" currently means.

I have faith enough to know we can walk the path of the one who is being parented now in that way Saturn and Mars in Capricorn only are able to hold the space for on this grand scheme of our collective experience.

I have released my mind from the FEAR that never existed and it gave me a powerful way to sigil into the acronym that I think explains this divided mind amnesia we have suffered up to this point (only) in order to help us remember that the fear we're experiencing now is subordinated to the will of the Divine Father in this.

In my view of this, since having my Heart Eye Chakra awakening, I see this as the very BEST antivirus software our collective HALO bubble could possibly be equipped with!

Therefore, nothing could ever sever the peace that supremely existed in all of this.

Or maybe it's my Mars and Mercury both in Capricorn, 7th house. lol

Happy Ascension Day!

May we all be united and may we all be blessed. 💘

Oh, the new acronym I was hearing is to explain what the amnesia of mind has been, in FEAR.

Forgetful
Erasure
Around
Resistance

I keep hearing that this is the thing that caused the mind's permeable membrane or the "veil" that actually never existed and why there is a bicameral mind.

Woahh thanks so much! I've actually been note taking here because this is exactly the kind of knowledge I need around astrology.

Thank you so much for explaining further how each planet has certain characteristic as well as signs.

Thinking about when planets are in their home turf is a pretty cool way for me to be able to trust what is going on at a larger scale - I'm referencing Saturn in Capricorn here.

I really appreciate all of this and I'll definitely be checking back in - thanks so much, so much knowledge!
