Venus -- at home again in Libra

Venus crossed into Libra last week, putting it once again in its home territory -- one of the two signs in rules. (Taurus is its other home.) She travels here until September 9 when she moves on into Scorpio's formidable ground.

Like Mercury, Venus never wanders far from The Sun in a horoscope. If you have Venus in Libra in your Natal Chart, your Sun is in Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio or Sagittarius. Yes, I know that's a lot of signs, but it's only 5 out of 12, and except for Mercury all the rest of the planets could be pretty much anywhere.

What Venus means

As the ruler of two signs, Venus deals with two different life areas. One includes things like money and possessions. The other covers relationships, love interests, and your connection to other people. That's the one I'm writing about in this post. (I'll get to the other one in a bit.)

From a wider perspective, Venus rules over "things of value," the people and assets you need to survive. She also rules over those things that let you enjoy living -- like art, music, literature ... all manner of beauty, creative efforts and culture. She promotes comfort, enjoyment and harmony -- and many people think of her as their favorite planet.

It's hard to argue with that -- although in time you learn to appreciate all the gifts of the different members of your Inner Family. Each planet represents one or more of that group. Together, they make you the unique and complex spirit you are.

What Libra means

Libra energy promotes fairness, equality, justice and balance. It's dedicated to establishing and maintaining harmony. It believes in negotiation, diplomacy and compromise. It practices these as its standard way of life -- and kind of insists that others do, too. You might correctly guess from this that Libra is a very social sign, good with people and good at organizing groups into cooperative, working arrangements.

As the 7th sign of the Zodiac, Libra marks the "halfway point" around the horoscope circle. The first six signs put emphasis on the individual and his growth and development ... the way he manages to navigate the world and support himself on his own. From Libra through Pisces, however, the focus changes. It's time to take other people into account ... and learn to work as part of a group effort. Libra facilitates this.

It's fair to say Libra needs other people and close relationships to feel complete. It is the most other-oriented sign in the Zodiac. It particularly wants connection with one special person in a semi-exclusive arrangement like a best friend, a significant other, a spouse. Libra focuses on how it participates in a relationship -- almost as if it is incomplete without this other half as a permanent part of the arrangement.

For all its strong social interests, Libra can be surprisingly objective in judging people, ideas, situations ... almost anything that can be studied and analyzed intellectually. They want what's best for everyone and spend enormous amounts of time and energy making sure the people around them are being treated fairly and the everyone is doing his share.

They correct one-sided situations with negotiation, compromise and when necessary, old-fashioned manipulation. What matters to Libra is that he gets his own way -- and that everyone agrees his way was the satisfying and proper choice.

The spirit of Venus in Libra

When a planet is in the sign it rules, its expression is pure. It is less complex than when it occupies one of the other Zodiac signs, but it is more intensely itself. It's a lot like the double dose of sign energy we get every month with each new moon. Venus in Libra is Venus authentic, focused on harmony, cooperation and comfort.

Venus in Libra is the Zodiac's most social sign. Forming relationships is her reason for being -- and everyone is a potential partner. The emphasis here is one-to-one, with a measure of intimacy in all their connections. Friends aren't just friends to Venus in Libra. There's an element of unity -- a kind of bonding -- as between best friends or lovers. If Venus in Libra is attracted to you, she wants to take you into her life -- and become part of yours.

Venus in Libra is courteous and considerate. They genuinely like other people -- and with partnerships so central to their lives, they want these connections to work for everyone. Their well-being depends on it ... and they will go the extra mile and then some to do their part.

What to expect when Venus is in Libra

  • A kinder, gentler attitude toward everyone, especially those you love and those close to you

  • A more equitable and diplomatic approach to your relationships -- and all arrangements of potential conflict or cooperation

  • More willingness to see life, problems, the "current situation" from the other person's point of view

  • More willingness to compromise ... to create an outcome or agreement that works for everyone

People born with Venus in Libra

  • The person with Venus in Libra is the diplomat of the Zodiac. He believes in negotiation, accommodation ... and the ability to find the middle ground that will suit all parties in any disagreement. He has natural talents in objectivity and arbitration.

  • He is motivated by a deep desire for harmony and seeing to the best interests of everyone. Arguments and contention upset him. Too much of it can make him physically ill.

  • He wants to make a good impression on everyone. If he especially likes you, he wants the two of you to become confidantes, allies ... and part of each other's private circle and support system. If you play fair with him ... and meet him halfway, he may turn out to be the best friend you've ever had.

  • Proper etiquette and good manners are important to him. He dislikes intrigue or jockeying for position. Though he himself can be a master manipulator, he prefers all commerce to be honest and open. He is willing to adjust his agenda to accommodate yours wherever possible, but he expects you to meet him in the same spirit of give-and-take.

  • Appearances matter to him. He despises public scenes or open quarreling. He will do a lot to keep the peace and to "keep the lid on things," -- sometimes to the point of settling for the right facade or "putting on a unified front" instead of hammering out all the behind-the-scenes details that would make the agreement genuine.

How to work with Venus in Libra

  • Try deliberately to meet everyone in a spirit of friendship and open cooperation. Assume that you can be friends -- and will be able to work out problems to everyone's satisfaction.

  • Aim for harmony in all your dealings. If you have a problematic relationship that needs attention, see if you can look at the situation from the other person's point of view. Be impartial and honest. See if "talking things over" can help clear the air. (It may not work like a charm. Some relationships are too complicated and conflicted to be unsnarled on the first ... or second ... or third effort. But it can't hurt. And it may lay the foundation for renewed talks in the future. It's worth a try.)

  • Rebalance your important relationships. Do your fair share for sure, but don't always be the one giving 150%. Now is an excellent time to renegotiate the agenda you and your important partners share.

  • Live by the Golden Rule. Treat others the way you want to be treated -- and watch carefully to see who returns the graciousness and support. It's an extremely fine way to find -- and recognize -- and unite with -- your people.

Thank you for stopping by!

If you've always known there was more to Astrology than Sun Sign material and the three line daily horoscope in the newspaper, climb aboard and follow this blog. You'll find a world of wisdom detailing how you were designed to work with life ... and why you are the way you are -- all in quick-to-read, easy-to-digest-and-remember, written-in-plain-English essays that offer plenty of food for thought.

Little by little, I'm doing a set of articles that talks about all the elements in your horoscope and what they have to say about you. If you "know something" about Astrology -- or know something about your chart placements, that will help you get more from this material.

If you don't ... well, this is one place you can learn. We all have to start somewhere ... because we aren't born knowing this stuff. Meanwhile, if you've never seen your horoscope ... and don't have a clue how to work with it, maybe it's time to find out. There are lots of "chart services" on the internet -- some of whom produce decent, readable charts "for free" and some are so awful and confusing that even I can't read them easily -- and I've worked with charts for decades.

One extremely user-friendly chart site is here: AstroLabe. I recommend them if you want a simple, easy-to-read chart. I think they even give a reasonable little interpretive reading of your horoscope as part of the package. You'll need to know your birth information -- day, month, year, time and geographical place. Without all that your chart will have limited accuracy.

Or, if you want to get serious and really talk about this, upvote this post and start a conversation in the comments section sometime in the next six days from the time of publication. We'll go from there depending on what you want to know.

Questions about any of this? -- Upvote this post and talk to me in comments. It's a terrific way to build value for yourself and the community ... and it will give me ideas of what to write about in future posts. Believe me there is lots to say about the way The Sun, The Moon -- and all the other elements in a horoscope, all the other components of Astrology -- work together to interpret you and your story -- and what it all means to the person you've become.

This is who I am.

About the art in our visual essays ...

Although sometimes the background pictures in our visual essays support the topic and text, they don't always. Sometimes the connection is clear. Sometimes it's symbolic and subtle. Sometimes, there's no connection at all.

The scenes depict landscapes and natural features, buildings and wildlife. They were chosen because they show something lovely or interesting ... or simply because the photo appealed to me.

Our spectacular and remarkable planet is changing at astonishing speed. Rarely are these changes for the better. Few people seem to know ... or care ... or have the will and power to do anything about this. It may not be long before the world humans have known and lived in for centuries is forever lost. We certainly won't be able to make repairs as fast as we destroyed it.

So a few years ago I began collecting pictures of the way things were ... and still are for now, a record of the beauty we have while it is still ours to love and honor.

The photos here are part of that collection, with sincere thanks to the artists who saw these moments ... and with their cameras ... preserved them. All of us at Enchanted Spirit are profoundly grateful to them for their generosity and skill ... and for the added grace, depth and dimension their art brings to ours.

Yes, and I don't where that came from either.

14 hrs ago you musta had a mandala effect 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

I'm a Pisces, and a while back I did have my astrological chart done. I don't think I had anything in Libra! Maybe that's why I'm so argumentative... My mum is a Libra though, and she exemplifies the sign. She's calm, diplomatic, sociable, peace-loving and loves cute little things (like Shaun the Sheep). But she's not a fan of astrology at all!
I used to be really interested in astrology, and I still think it has something to say, for quite complex reasons.
