Abandoned Shit: lost your shoe?

I was out walking on the hill and I found this old shoe sole lying among the rocks.

It appeals to me because of the story it tells. It must have belonged to someone too poor to buy new shoes and when the sole cracked, it was repaired with wire. The wire repair held, which is unusual because one would expect a moulded shoe sole to crack further once holes have been made in it. At some point, it ended up on the hill and I don't know what became of the rest of the shoe, it wasn't nearby, but the sole has been through at least one bushfire and lies there baking in the sun all day, a testament to how poor people live.

Sort:

Oh...
People should not live like this ...

Do you think they bought new shoes and abandoned this one? Because it has already been repaired once and they would probably have tried to repair it further. I wonder if their feet have better shoes now.

Perhaps, who knows? I think that the repair is fairly ingenious

Probably the sole was not made with high quality here and burst. A man was sorry to throw this shoe and he decided to repair it. But as soon as he bought a new shoe, he probably threw out his old one.

Perhaps, but I enjoy the mystery of it. It does look as if he walked with the repaired shoe for some time

Good reminder not to be poor.

In this part of the world, being poor is not a choice for millions of people

I like this concept of abandoned shit.

Me too. It's a great contest

Funny. I'm kind of that way. I joke that I wear my clothes until they are falling off me. Many a time have I finally broken down to buy new shoes because the soles of the old ones are coming off. I have even glued the soles back on pairs the I really like. Never sewed them back together though.

I'm also a bit like that but I used to be a shoemaker and when moulded soles crack, they can't be glued. This is the only way to fix them but it tends not to work for long, either
