Honda tested the smart intersection. Cars on it warn each other about the approach of a pedestrian

Carmaker Honda has created in a small American town of Marysville smart intersection - a system of data exchange between cars, which warns of approaching from around the corner pedestrians or cyclists. This is stated in the message of the company.

The system is based on Vehicle-to-everything technology, which allows cars to communicate with each other. Engineers believe that in the future it will help to unload roads and reduce the number of accidents caused by the unexpected appearance of a car or pedestrian on the roadway.

To create an experimental smart intersection, Honda equipped 200 cars of its employees with means of communication, as well as installed cameras at the intersection that record the movement of people and pedestrians at a distance of 100 meters.

As a result, the system warned the driver about the risk of collision or congestion by means of a projection on a special panel. Testing was considered successful, but it is unknown whether Honda plans to equip the system and other roads and intersections.
Earlier, the German automaker Volkswagen announced its intention to invest in the transition to the production of electric vehicles and the creation of its own operating system vw.os $4.05 billion by 2025.
