ALL FLAPS UP LANDING
Condition : The leading edge devices fail to extend and trailing edge flaps are less than 1.
Objective : To configure for a landing with leading edge devices retracted and trailing edge flaps less than 1.
- Do this checklist only when directed by the Trailing Edge Flaps Up Landing checklist.
- Consider burning off fuel to reduce touchdown speed.
- Set VREF 40 + 55 knots.
- Check the Non-Normal Configuration Landing Distance tables in the Performance Inflight-QRH chapter or other approved source.
- Maintain flaps up maneuvering speed until established on final approach.
- Limit bank angle to 15 degree, when airspeed is less than the flaps up maneuvering speed.
APPROACH
review the approach chart : Published procedure turns and radar vectors that are executed at a speed below flaps up maneuvering speed, require a wider turn radius due to the 15 degree bank angle limit!
LANDING
Burn off fuel to practical minimum in order to reduce landing weight.
No or only very little flare is required, make a positive landing, do not float. Maintain forward column pressure after touchdown!
the use of autobrakes is recommended, consistent with available runway length. Use maximum reverse thrust.
High speed tires maximum 225mph / 196 kts ground speed ground speed. Verify tire condition with the pilot that performed the exterior inspection.
Be ready to take over with nose wheel steering for directional control upon roll-out
Choose RWY : - Weather forecast at ETA (= after fuel burn-off) and landing minima CAT I
- Advisory Info - Non-normal Configuration Landing Distance
- Avoid wet runway and crosswind
- Verify obstacles for straight ahead go-around
Go-Around
Go-around with Flaps UP
Limit bank angle to 15 degree when speed is below Flaps UP-speed
ATC
Advise ATC that you will land with high speed and no flaps
Request : - Weather forecast at ETA (after fuel burn-off)
- Straight ahead go-around due to limited bank
- Fire brigade inspect landing gear after landing
Report : - Holding time required to burn-off fuel and prepare for approach
- Souls on board
- Fuel upon landing
- Any or no dangerous goods on board
CABIN CREW
Brief the CCM using company guidelines and call-outs
PASSENGERS
- Reassure passengers in line with company guidelines
Example : "Technical problem, airplane under control. Remain in holding for x time to reduce fuel. Follow Cabin Crew instructions."
