While true beauty is a natural quality of great health, it can be great fun to take care of the body temple where our shining spirits reside! Self care is a vital element of self love, the invincible radiance of health and beauty.

Yesterday I shared a few of my favorite natural face washes, which are simple and inexpensive on top of being supportive of great skin. Today I want to share some of my favorite options for toners!

In case you don't know, a toner is a lightweight liquid that is great for following up a face wash in your skin care routine. They can cleanse, hydrate, tighten, and tone the skin, and keep you looking young and fresh!

Here are some of my favorite natural toners:

1. Witch Hazel

Witch hazel is a gentle anti-inflammatory that also has anti-viral properties. It's good for treating acne, sunburns, and even bruises! It is made by boiling the bark of the witch hazel tree, and straining or distilling the liquid, although commercially prepared solutions are readily available. To use: pour on a cotton ball and rub across the face, neck, and chest.

2. Cleevers

Cleevers is a great plant that grows like a weed in many areas. It is slightly velcro-y and has a tendency to stick to things. This is a great skin cleanser as well as a natural deodorant! It can be prepared by harvesting the leaves and stalks, and boiling into a tea. To use: pour on a cotton ball and rub across the skin.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is a staple in many pantries. It has countless uses for health and wellness in the body and can even be used as a home cleanser! Vinegar is a very easy alchemy to make; check out my recipe for pomegranate vinegar here. To make apple cider vinegar, just substitute apples for pomegranates! To use: pour on a cotton ball and rub across the skin.

4. Rose Water

Rose water is a delicious and luxurious treatment that smells heavenly. Rose water is very soothing for the skin. It is gentle and hydrating. It can be made by soaking organic rose petals in water, but you get more extract by boiling or steam distilling them. To use: pour on a cotton ball and rub across the skin.

I hope you take great delight in treating yourself to some of the gifts of nature. Taking care of yourself not only feels nice and makes you more lovely, but the lift in your spirit is a present to everyone around you as well!

May you know your worth!
