FIFTITWOTH!!! ANOTHER PARTY!!!!

in #beersaturday6 years ago

Yes, this is the one year anniversary and the company is going very strong. Everyone is excited and so we decided to throw a great party. Whatever it is we do here is very popular and whatever it is we produce is very well received. Our president, Mr. Det Lev, has put together a fine group of us. I make the stuff that gushes thru the thing over there and, despite what they say, yes, I still have a job.
So when Mr. Lev ordered me to order a special beer from San Diego, well, I did it. Now, I did think it was a strange beer for Mr. Lev to have ordered to, you know, drink at the office party, but he runs the show. So he told me to go out on the deck and put the Horny Devil there with the very cool spiral goblet.

I went back to the party, then heard a female voice out back say, "Oh, Mr. Lev, take it off." Well, this got me curious, so I went out back again for a sneak peak and was I surprised with what I saw:

So the red cellophane was gone from the top of the bottle and the boss had indeed taken it off. And just a cap - I was kinda expecting a champagne cork, or something.
The boss and his friend were gone, so I took a closer look at the bottle: AleSmith is a very well respected independent craft brewer, so that was a great sign. The label says it's a Belgian-style Golden Ale with a trappist yeast strain from Belgium.
At 10% alc, they did a great job with that yeast.
I slipped away as the boss and - whomever - were coming back. They giggled together over the bottle and I heard a sloshing and they quickly snuck off together again. I think the boss was really proud of himself and was looking forward to his Horny Devil.
I gotta say, the beer looked very impressive:

It poured out a beautiful color with obviously glittering carbonation. I glanced around and could not see Mr. Lev and his...anywhere. So I took a deep gulp of the golden liquid. It was not as strong as I thought it would be, but rather smooth. It was not bitter and had very little aftertaste. The Horny Devil was kinda sneaky. Both of them: The boss was now officially not around here anymore, but he had forgotten about this Horny Devil while remembering his other horny devil. Apparently, a one year/52 week celebration is very good for bosses.
And the one I was now drinking down entirely was now sneaking up on me.

It's a Belgium style golden ale. I have had very few of these and, to be honest, I think I need to get a better grip on the style before giving an accurate review. I've had a few AleSmiths in the past and they have been great. But honestly, this was not on the top of my list. It's hard for me to know if it's the beer or the style. Regardless, it was fun to try.
Now, if Mr. Det Lev could do this again next week so I could drink a different beer that would be very great. I'll have a talk with him and see what I can do.

All hail #BeerSaturday
Thanks to @detlev for another good reason to drink beer. :-))

great little story to tie in the 1 year anniversary of #beersaturday, well done Dennis! Your story writing skills are up there with @meesterboom! Belgian style ale, let me tell you about those, no where near my favorite beer stylings. In fact I despise most of them. Had a Belgian style golden ale a few days ago, they just have a taste I do not prefer. But I know you are a bit different...................................than me that is, so maybe you do like them.

Lol, it is a good tale and a good looking beer too

Thanks. It was fun to write. The beer...maybe next time.. Cheers dude. :-))

its a belgian style ale, ugh

Hahah, they aint all bad

As I drink more experience, I'm getting a better grip on stouts and, of course IPAs. But this was not, as I said, near the top of my list. It just seemed kinda...empty to me. Any way, I'll keep trying. :-))

Ha ha, that was funny as hell, and a nice beer to boot!!

Thank you very much. It was fun. I hope the boss takes it well. :-))

That was very funny!!!

Never tried this one, but have to agree everything I've had from Ale smith is pretty darn good

Oh yeah. AleSmith makes great beer. I've really liked all else I've had from them. This is worth trying and let me know what you think of it. Cheers.

WHAT a story. I still smile and was thinking into my beerfridge to come back with answer.

But there is maybe a way better mission for you.

A friend of mine started a brewery in SEBASTOPOL, a bit north of San Francisco and west of Sacramento. They called it woodfour and I never had a taste from his beer - but I visited the location during the setup. What a pain.

So, why not trying to get one of these for a review

My pleasure. I will check my sources and see what I can do - Mr. Lev, sir. :-)) Actually, Sebastopol is a few hundred miles north of here, but sometimes the craft beers can float up and down the coast. Kinda depends on their distribution network.
It was fun to write and glad you enjoyed it. Cheers Dude!

Yeah, love this post.

Have a look to their website, as they list the locations where you might get the beer

Great story, dude! LOL it was really amazing!

A very creative review my friend. And this beer sounds like it might not be the best example from the brewer. I would have thought that Trappist yeast wouldn’t go well with a golden ale. That might be the case with this one.

Thanks, it was fun to write. Yeah, I'd be interested to try the beer again - just to see - but it is a bit expensive.
