I joined recently because I simply was not aware of this nice contest which made quite a development. There is @beerlover now and there even are beer tokens!

What do I have for you this week?
My last three entries were about locally brewed beers and this week I'll start with the first (of until now three) beer from brewery Texels.
Texel is a Dutch island (link goes to google maps) and they have a brewery which I heard of before but it's the first time I checked out their beer.
They have quite a lot different sorts but I only could buy three today.
Here is my first one: Skuumkoppe
They are playing with words.
"Skuumkoppe" is a heavy dialect and because the brewery is on an island it can be associated with "whitecap" (a foamy white crest on a wave) but also with "head of beer".
Great marketing!
SPECIAALBIER
Every time I read "special beer" I am a little bit skeptical but also excited.
I remember a "special beer" that tasted like perfume so let's check what's written on the back label.
'Skuumkoppe' is what the beachcombers (people searching the beach for things of the sea) call the whitecaps (the foamy white crests on waves) on the rough sea around this special island.
Texels Skuumkoppe is traditionally brewed dark wheat beer with a full taste and suitable for every season.
One more special thing about this beer: it is brewed with dune water!
This sounds all very promising but they also say paper doesn't blush.
The only way to find out was: drinking it!!!

I was blown away by the taste!
Not bitter, not sweet, just perfect!!!
Luckily I did not buy more "Skuumkoppe" because otherwise I would not have been able to write this post anymore.
I can't wait to try all the other "Texels" beers.
Two are left in the fridge but they have many more tastes I need to discover.
