Bees Going Bonkers
The bees were stuck inside for a few days of cool, rainy weather. Now they are all out enjoying the sunshine.
These girls are doing their orientation flights to prepare for some foraging. There is a lot of hungry brood in the hive at this time of year and older workers are being promoted to foragers every day to keep up with the demand for pollen to make bee bread.
New forragers spend a few hours flying around near the hive to memorize its location. These orientation flights produce a lot of traffic at the hive entrance and are sometimes very noisy.
