The International Scientific Conference begins in Sivasu

A two-day international scientific conference has started at Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (Siju).

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid inaugurated the conference at Siju auditorium at 11am on Saturday (May 12).

Nurul Islam Nahid said as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony, Bangladesh under the leadership of Bangabandhu daughter Sheikh Hasina now has full self-sufficiency in food. This is possible due to proper application of scientific knowledge in agriculture. By the promise of building a hunger and poverty-free country, the current government is working, there is no alternative to sustainable food system by implementing it in 2021. That's why we have focused on fisheries and animal resources.

He said, Sival had enviable success in creating skilled manpower in the development of fisheries and animal resources and new research. This success will be retained. Due to rapid urbanization, food production should not be interrupted, we need to look at the proper nutrient rich food for our new generation.

Presided over by Gautam Buddha Das, the Vice-Chancellor of West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences of India Professor Dr. Purnendu Biswas, Co-ordinator of One Health Bangladesh and former Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Nitish Chandra Debnath, Professor of Biotechnology Department of South Korea's Pokyong National University Yong Kang Hong, Director of Sivuur One Health Institute Professor Dr. Sharmin Chowdhury.

Present at the time, Vice-Chancellor Professor of Chittagong University. Shirin Akhter, Siju Registrar Mirza Faruk Imam, Dean of Fisheries Faculty Professor Dr. Nurul Abacher Khan, Dean of Food Science and Technology Faculty Dr. Raihan Faruque, convenor of the conference media sub-committee Professor Dr. Ashraf Ali Biswas also said.

Representatives of 250 scientists, researchers, academics, environmentalists, professionals, development partners and donor agencies from abroad are present at this international conference titled "The Role of Fisheries and Zoology in a sustainable food system in a middle-income country like Bangladesh".
