Berlin Alexander Platz ...

In the middle of the week I returned from Berlin ... These were five intensive days, of enjoyment of music, food and culture.

In Berlin I was 8 years ago ... We visited all the mandatory sites and places with a Jewish connection. The city made me taste more .... :))

I stayed with a friend who lived there, in a pampering house within walking distance of the Kudmstrasse - the undisputed shopping street.

Berlin combines old and new, alongside modern and advanced buildings that contain buildings that attest to its complex past. A city that combines culture, history and a Jewish Holocaust.

It is amazing and powerful, bustling with life, museums, churches, palaces and green lungs. It is almost not jammed ... The boulevards are wide and the walk in it is calm and not crowded. At the same time, she is not easy to digest because of her past in the Holocaust and her history with herself.

Hakeha Hoppe - a complex of inner courtyards and alleys that include galleries, shops and cafes, a charming tourist area that is fun to walk around on the day and at night.

The Schwarzenberg House is home to small museums that deal with the memory of the Holocaust. The main one is Otto Wiedt's Blind Workshop . Next to it is a small museum in memory of Anne Frank.

On Friday evening we were in an amazing performance by Andrei Butchili in a suburb near Berlin. The performance was a huge outdoor park amphitheater an unforgettable experience.

Saturday night there was a white night in the city. We purchased a combined ticket to the Charlottenburg Palace and several museums and galleries in the city center. It was a cultural night in a vibrant city.

We went on a day trip outside Berlin, visiting the town of "Bernau near Berlin" . A 14th-century town that was preserved. Small and pastoral. It has Gothic structures and a fortified wall. To our delight that day there was a large arts fair and it was fun to walk around the stalls.

From there we continued to Peacock Island - the island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a nature reserve and a magical place. We took a small ferry to the island. On the island there are peacocks (about 100) but unfortunately they did not spread their feathers in our honor .... :))

In the lively Kreuzberg district there are many restaurants and clubs, as well as a charming food market which of course we visited and enjoyed eating there.

It was a short and fun trip ... a little shopping, cakes in the Beka de Wa (the big and prestigious department store), a sausage on the promenade of the River Shofra. Pretzel and beer ... Gifts in the magnificent flagship store of Nieuwe (the toilet is clean and beautiful) on Unter den Linden. Photos in the wall gallery, bear the symbol of the city, and the cheap miley :))

I enjoyed the perfect hospitality and an unforgettable visit ... Berlin was good to me .. :))

Berlin, like it was in the twenties of the last century. Cultural Meltingpot, modern, cosmopolitan till the sky over Berlin darkened... Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself. According to Mark Twain, it doesn't but it often rhymes.
