Adelie Penguins on ice
Penguins are by far one current guarantee when you explore the Antarctic Peninsula that and ice, with 3 brush tail species breeding along the long stretch of the continent, Gentoo, Chinstrap & Adelie penguins. When you arrive at a large breeding site for anyone of these species they tend to be everywhere - whether it be on the landing site itself, or porpoising in the coastal waters and simply taking a rest on the numerous icebergs and sea ice that are close by.
When they are out on the ice taking a well earned break from foraging or attending to their eggs it means for a great opportunity to snap a few hundred photos of these adorable flightless birds. Especially, when the backdrop is a massive glacier front with some intense shades of blue revealing themselves in the sunshine.
