JC's NYPD: Albuquerque's Best Pizza

If you're looking for the best slice of pizza in Albuquerque, look no further than the revolving Lady Liberty sign on the corner of 2nd Street and Central. While the sign is a brand new installation, NYPD (New York Pizza Department) is nothing new. For over sixteen years, NYPD has been serving up the tastiest pizza, calzones, salads, and canolis in New Mexico. You can trust me, I've had a lot of pizza in my time in New Mexico.

NYPD has never failed to deliver delicious, consistent quality food. Sure, today they took forty minutes to bring us our order in a relatively empty restaurant, but the staff was apologetic about it, overly kind, and I didn't even mind waiting in their nifty, clean, colorful restaurant.

This place has a special place in my heart. When I first committed to vegetarian eating over a decade ago, NYPD served me my last slice of pepperoni pizza. Even abstaining from meat, NYPD still has plenty of options available. Their typical pizza is a crispy, thin crust pizza that isn't lacking on the flavor. But they also have a deep dish pizza, pastas, soups, and yummy things like caprese salad, and hero sandwiches.

For being such excellent pizza, it's not very expensive at all. Since they have opened, they have always offered five dollar meals, like two slices of pizza and a drink or a slice, a salad and drink.

And to go with all this yummy food, they have an expansive menu of local beers on tap.

(and yes, I am one of those strange people who opts in favor of the controversial pizza topping: pineapples)
