ANIMALS OF YELLOWSTONE - #Bestofjarvie 2018

in #bestofjarvie5 years ago

In May of 2018 I visited Yellowstone for about a week focused on photographing the animals newly awaken from their winter slumber and with the roads just newly opened.

I don't do a lot of wildlife photography but It was certainly a lot of fun trying it out.

Now with your help it's time to narrow it down in this second installment. Love hearing your choices and voting up your posts specially those with unique insights.

DIRECTIVE: Keep 2, Kill 1

I think i'll just be happy to have more wildlife in my 2018 portfolio so I'll probably keep a few of these

NARROWING DOWN TOP IMAGES

Out of thousands ... I have narrowed it down to about 100 landscape/travel images now comes the fun part.
For over a decade I have made it fun for friends and followers.

  • They get to voice their opinion, hone their photo skills through comparative analysis
  • We all get to see what kind of art appeals to people
  • And I get to share some images and figure out a top 25 and a top 10

Here's the ones I'm already considering making it to the next round: https://steempeak.com/bestofjarvie/@jarvie/10-top-images-of-2018-introduction-to-bestofjarvie-selection-process

WHAT YOU CAN DO?

A. Voice your opinion.
B. Specially which images you'd put into my official portfolio.
Aka "I think someone would actually buy this and put it on their wall"
C. There will be a specific directive at the end of each post.

"KEEP OR KILL"

I haven't been consistent with every year... for example I may do 2017 after i finish with 2018. Haha

But this has always been known as "Keep or Kill"

Meaning I'll put similar pictures next to eachother and you say which ones should advance and which ones not.
Keep or kill... because we like alliteration. haha

What I like about this style is that we're not saying that one picture is terrible or not... we're just saying that the others far outshined it.

Sort:

Oh man, weeding out photos is the hardest. You want to take a bunch in case you miss a moment or a focus, but then you’re stuck deciding between the hundreds. Not my favorite part for sure. I’d say Keep #1 & #6, Kill #3. I’m a fan for landscapes and reflections, but you have too many good closeups to pass up and I’m sure you’ve already picked some good wides.

Thanks yeah it can be one of the more challenging parts of photography... but also something fun to involve other people with

i would maybe swap C for no:2, but not sure.
i like the goat one too.

Wow glad to know a bunch of people here and on FB like that goat one.

Keep #4 and #6 and Kill #5. Great animal shots! Hope I get some good ones in Africa!

You better get some good shots in Africa!! haha

Nicely captured. Really awesome experience.
