Text: 1 Peter 4:1-6; Matthew 24:3-34

1 Peter 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

God is so good to mankind. He has done so much for us and yet, He keeps doing more.
He provides for us (I Timothy 6:17)
He heals our sicknesses and diseases. ( Exodus 15:26)
He forgives our sins (1 John 1:9)
He does a lot of things for us and in turn, He expects us to accept His free gifts and live for Him.

Living for God means we should live according to His dictates and use Jesus Christ as our perfect example. Jesus came to the world to show us how to live a victorious and perfect life in this world.

In living for God, we are expected to
1 Take on holiness. (I Peter 1:15 - 16, Hebrews 12:14) Holiness is God's identity and for you to live for Him, you must be holy in all manner of conversation.

1 Peter 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

2 Be an ambassador of Christ. (II Corinthians 5:20). An ambassador is a representative. You must therefore be a representative of Christ everywhere you go. Represent Christ in your words, in your actions and in all aspects.

2 Corinthians 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

3 Always acknowledge that God is the source of your strength, your wisdom, (Proverbs 3:5-6) and He is the One that makes doors of great opportunities to open to you. This means you must give God all the glory always.

Isaiah 42:8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

4 Serve God with all that you have. Give Him your time, your money, your possessions, etc.

Exodus 23:25 And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

5 Preach the gospel.
Since this is the major reason why Jesus came, for everyone to be a partaker of the gift of salvation, it is important that an ambassador of Christ preaches for people to embrace the gospel.
