Currently on route 66...

in #bicycling6 years ago

I left Amarillo Tx 2 days ago and made it to McLean Tx. It has been great terrain but strong winds. 35-45 mph and gust up to around 50. Knocked me off my bike 4 times. Today was an easy ride though. Tomorrow is expected to be easy as well.
Stayed at a KOA camp ground for a night and the next night I stayed at a roadside attraction for free thanks to owner. Still looking for a place for tonight.

Bike is doing well and so is gear. I am about 1200 miles into my bike ride. Almost half way 😁

Here are some pictures for you all...

Wow you’re making incredible time. Keep putting those miles behind ya.

Wow you are making great time on Rt.66. I love your pic of the 6 Mariachis and I hope you left them a big tip for their fine music!

I grew up in that part of the country.
I don't miss the wind one bit.

I lived in various parts of texas over the years. Ft. Worth, Warton, Dallas, Ft. Hood, San Antonio, and Lubuck... check spelling of those places... 😎

I was born and raised just north of lubbock...in a town named PLAINVIEW...(because it was...in plain view)

it's not very memorable.
in fact.
Happiness is seeing Plainview in your rear view mirror.

😐

Groom Texas . I have to ask , is there a Bride Texas ?

Throw in a priest and chapel , all the bases would be covered .
