Ratel's photos #324 Forest Birds-257
The common starling (Sturnus vulgaris), also known as the European starling
Look at how cheerfully he walks on the ground, and as if pulling very fat caterpillars out of the ground!
But he does not eat them. That says that it is a parent and collects caterpillars for small chicks.
He seems to hear where the caterpillars are. Typing a whole beak of greasy food, he continues to look for food. And if he finds it, he throws the prey nearby so as not to interfere, pulls out another victim, and collects those previously left.
