Denmark Joins EU Blockchain Partnership, Plans to Implement Tech in Shipping

Denmark has signed an agreement to join an aggregate of 24 European Union member countries that is in support of pan EU blockchain standards and solutions, nearby news outlet Finans Watch detailed June 4.

The EU blockchain partnership was created on April 10 as a major aspect of the European Commission's Digital Day with the aim of improving collaboration among member states for creating blockchain tech.

Brian Mikkelsen, the Danish Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, said just after the signing of the announcement Monday that Denmark will be "the main nation on the planet [to] utilize blockchain technology to register ships in the Danish ship registers." He included:

"Blockchain extenda over borders, and a joint European collaboration is urgent to guarantee future-verification models and solutions. So I'm exceptionally satisfied that we have now marked this assertion."

Mikkelson additionally also stated that the government's "outside the box" Disruption Council is investigating blockchain use for the business sector.
