Bitcoin value proposition keeps getting better as it is now the 2nd most traded asset by volume on the CME markets. For those who aren't aware the CME Group is the world's leading and most diverse derivative marketplace providing futures, options, cash and OTC markets. It is a significant achievement for Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency space because not to long ago it was looking for a place of legitimacy. As reported by ZyCrypto: https://zycrypto.com/bitcoin-becomes-second-most-traded-asset-in-cme-market/, is surely becoming a popular asset among traders just shy of DOW Futures which has years of interest among traders. This speaks volume for regulators and I am surprise that this hasn't received much coverage. To break this down further, what this adds is an important dimension of liquidity and depth for regulators if they take a ETF base on Bitcoin Futures as base value. Bonus for ETF applicants of such an ETF compared to others is the fact that CME provides a regulated market, something that makes regulators job easier when approving such a product.

While some can point to the fact that DOW Futures is still king, the volume and open interest Bitcoin currently enjoys set up an interesting battle in the future for most traded asset. It would be an interesting development to follow because it tells a lot about traders and where people are putting their money to work. It also shows that CME entrance into the cryptocurrency market was a valid one and potentially very lucrative one. Having the tag of a regulated US exchange certainly sets them apart from competitors looking to get into market. These developments are excellent news, it shows that traditional market providers can embrace this emerging asset class and it could potentially be one of their best bets. Share your thoughts and ideas on the topic. Do you think that the CME should now look into other cryptocurrency projects like Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, EOS or Ripple? Can these bets also pay off? What other projects that were not mention above that you would like to see?
