Tesla gigafactory is believed to be the biggest man made structure, and it was built near Clark, Nevada. It builds electric batteries for the company products, Tesla car line being the most popular. Soon, though, this structure may become famous for something else, namely, for neighboring one of the first real life crypto-backed communities, or, how I like to call it, a "real life dApp".

And why is that, you asked?

Well, because the land on which Tesla gigafactory was built is now surrounded by the property of a man called Jeffrey Berns. He may not be your regular crypto-persona, having very little in common with the Vitaliks, or Dan Larimers of the field, but he paid no less than $170 million in cash on that piece of land alone. And another $130 on logistics, staff (more than 70 people working now on the project) and office buildings. The vehicle for the transactions was a company called Blockchains LLC. And the tax regime of Nevada was obviously a big incentive.

In that area, which is stretching over a few hundreds of acres, Jeff (I think we may call him Jeff, for now) wants to build a crypto-governed community, according to this fascinated story published yesterday in New York Times. Even more, he plans to give away up to 90% of the stake he owns in the project, in a more transparent governance structure, built, you guessed it, on blockchain.

Interestingly enough, Jeff didn't make his fortune by betting on Bitcoin, but on Ethereum, which he massively bought in 2015.

The project includes a research area, a college and a lot of other structures and it is believed to actually start in late 2019.

According to the same story, it seems Jeff has also on his side some political support, which may prove beneficial to this project, at least in the beginning.
